E-KOH Initiative (Elect Kadir Obafemi Hamzat Initiative) has inaugurated its State Executive Committee and Local Government/Local Council Development Area (LG/LCDA) Coordinators, with a call for grassroots mobilization and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
The inauguration, held on Sunday, June 21, at the Lagos Mainland Local Government Secretariat, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, and members of the initiative from across Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the initiative, Mr. Olawale Badmus, popularly known as Liberty, described the inauguration as the strengthening of a movement dedicated to promoting visionary, innovative, and people-centered leadership in Lagos State.
According to him, the E-KOH Initiative was established as a platform for engagement, enlightenment, mobilization, and advocacy, inspired by the leadership values and developmental ideals of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Badmus stated that the group’s mission extends beyond supporting Hamzat’s governorship ambition, stressing that it is equally committed to the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels in the 2027 elections.
He urged the newly inaugurated executives and coordinators to see their appointments as a call to service, charging them to build strong grassroots structures, mobilize support, and take the message of the initiative to every ward, community, market, youth group, and professional association across the state.
The convener also appealed to aggrieved members of the APC to embrace reconciliation and unity, noting that the political contests ahead require a united front.
“We cannot go to war divided and expect victory,” he said, while urging party faithful to set aside grievances and work collectively for the progress of Lagos State and Nigeria.
On behalf of the newly inaugurated State Executive Committee, the Chairman of E-KOH Initiative Lagos and Supervisor for Education, Lagos Mainland Local Government, Hon. Oluseye Olofin, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in the new leadership.
He pledged that the executives would uphold the ideals of unity, transparency, accountability, and excellence while working to strengthen the initiative’s structures across the state.
Olofin commended Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for his commitment to grassroots development and inclusive leadership, describing him as an inspiration to members of the movement.
Also speaking at the event, Comrade Teslim Olusi, Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Home Affairs, described Hamzat’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate as well deserved.
According to him, the development had been a long time coming, noting that Dr. Hamzat had consistently demonstrated interest, commitment, and capacity for leadership over the years. He added that Hamzat’s wealth of experience in public service, having served as Special Adviser, Commissioner, and currently as Deputy Governor of Lagos State, has fully prepared him for the responsibility of leading the state.
Olusi therefore called on party members, supporters, and Lagos residents to rally behind Dr. Hamzat’s governorship bid while also supporting the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Similarly, the Council Leader of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Enitan Jessica Oba, said the initiative would play a vital role in creating awareness about the party’s candidates and strengthening grassroots sensitization efforts.
She noted that through community engagements, meetings, and other programmes, members of the initiative would educate residents on the credentials, achievements, and vision of the party’s candidates.
Oba expressed confidence that the structures being put in place by the initiative would complement wider campaign efforts and help mobilize youths, women, elders, and other stakeholders across communities when the electioneering process begins in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The event concluded with a renewed commitment by members of the initiative to expand its reach across Lagos State and promote what they described as the vision of a smarter, more prosperous, and inclusive Lagos.
