A RETROSPECT OF SANWO-OLU’S ADMINISTRATION IN SUMMARY (2019—2023) ~Ajasa-Info

The four years of the Governor of Lagos, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu since he assumed office in 2019 was filled with momentum and monumental projects littered the state of Aquatic splendour. In this Regards, *LAGOS YOUTH FOR SANWOOLU* is x-raying and taking a glance at the administration of the working governor in the last four years, having done remarkably well in his first term. As May 29, 2023 Inauguration/Swearing-in Ceremony of his second term is about to berth, We have taken a cursory look at his activities cum achievements and we would like take you back to some of the developmental milestones recorded;

1. ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE:

* Constructed combined High/Magistrate Courts in Igando/Imota

* Established forensic toxicology and chemistry section and enhancement of security and other sections of Lagos State DNA and forensic center phase 2 by Tunkey Project

2. SECURITY/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:

* 180 Patrol Vehicles

* 200 Patrol Motorcycles

* 4-high capacity troupe carriers

* Armoured personnel carriers etc.

3. TOURISM/ENTERTAINMENT:

* Commissioning of Glover hall

* Disbursed #200 million as loans to 37 Nigerian film Makers.

* Reconstruction of J.K Randle center for yoruba culture, Onikan-Lagos.

* Renovation of 9 Youth Centers in Lagos Island, Badagry, Ikeja, Mogodo, Abesan, Akowonjo, Ikorodu, Epe, and Isheri-Magodo.

* Construction of film City on 100 hectares in Ejirin in Epe LG. Etc

4. FOOD SECURITY:

* Trained 97 Senior Secondary school Agricultural Science Students, Agricultural Science teachers and Education Desk officers under the 2021 Agricultural Summer school programme.

* Established semi-mechanised abattior in oko-oba in collaboration with private Sector.

* Trained 575 women and youths, Comprising 240 in aquaculture, 300 in poultry, and 35, under the APPEALS project in rice farming.

* Commissioned 32-metric Tons per hour, IMOTA Rice mill

* Empowered 190 youths, Women in fish cage culture etc

5. INTER-MODAL TRANSPORTATION:

* Construction of jetties

* Commissioning of Electric Bus

* Commissioned Blue Rail Line

* Red Rail line still under construction etc

6. EDUCATION:

* Upgrade of Over 970 public Primary and Secondary Schools

* Upgraded 2 higher Institutions to Universities

* Constructed 4,000 flats for the staff of Lagos State University (LASU)

* Trained 18, 000 teachers under EKO EXCEL

7. HOUSING:

* Commissioned 16 Housing projects in 3 years.

8. HEALTH:

* Relaunched Jigi Bola with a target of reaching over 250,000 Lagosians

* Permanent 300 Isolation Bed Center, Yaba

* 563, 210 Lagosians Covered under the Health insurance Scheme

* Comprehensive renovation of public health facilities across the State. etc

9. ENVIRONMENTAL REGENERATION:

* Locally assembled 100 double dino bins for the use of Lagos Waste Management Agency (LAWMA)

* Inaugurated LAWMA Academy to promote environmental cleanliness

* Expanded Olusosun dumpsite to 42 Acres to accommodate more waste and ensure that trucks have a quicker turn around time.

* Acquired a Briquette facility, which can process about 1,700 kg of sawdust per hour, in Agbowa (Ikorodu Division)

10. SOCIAL/ECONOMIC INTERVENTIONS:

* Empowered 1,050 women in the second phase of the 2022 mega empowerment programme.

* Produces over 6,000 graduates yearly from state’s 19 skills acquisition centers.

* Supported 2, 704 Lagos Residence whose means of livelyhood were disrupted by COVID-19 etc

Ladies and Gentlemen, with all the afformentioned despite not comprehensive enough, we can accentuate that the first term of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu was an epitome of dedicated service. Let us embrace the continuity of a working governor has he embark on another journey of *A GREATER LAGOS RISING* as this administration consolidates.

NULGE DEFEATS NUT 3-2 IN IKORODU DIVISION PRE-INAUGURATION NOVELTY MATCH ~Ajasa-Info

The football pitch of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) played host to the Ikorodu division pre-inauguration novelty match as part of activities to commemorate the second term of “Mr Sellable” Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu as Governor of Lagos State.

The well-attended sport event had the former deputy Governor of Lagos state, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Executive Chairmen of Ikorodu North, Builder Deola Banjo, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Builder Sesan Daini, Imota LCDA, Prince Wasiu Agoro, State Deputy Chairman, NUT Comrade Badejo Ademuwagun, Permanent Secretary, OSAE, Mr Waheed Kasali and other notable personalities present to enjoy good football between the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT).

The game after 90 minutes ended 1-1 which led to a penalty shoot-out which had NULGE defeat NUT 3-2 to emerge victorious.

Builder Sesan Daini while presenting medals to NUT admonished that the novelty match was designed to create an atmosphere of friendliness among the various arm of government and more importantly a pre-inauguration event to commemorate the second coming of the hardworking Governor Babajide Sanwoolu as the Governor of Lagos State.

Prince Abiodun Ogunleye presented the victory cup to NULGE after which various songs of comradeship rented the air.

There was music, small chops and drinks to keep the atmosphere calm and friendly as both teams sang to cheer on their team during the novelty match.

RAK COMMISSIONS PROJECT LOUD’ SANWO-OLU ICT/SKILL ACQUISITION CENTRE, PRESENT A CAR PRIZE TO THE OUTSTANDING OFFICER IN SURULERE ~Ajasa-Info

Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK), the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, inaugurated the LOUD’ Sanwo-Olu ICT/Skill Acquisition Centre in Surulere on Thursday, 25th May, 2023.

The establishment of the center is part of the Lagos of Our Dreams project (Project LOUD), which gained prominence for its contributions to the re-election campaign of Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu in the 2023 Governorship elections in Lagos State.

Having played a significant role in the initiative since its inception, Ogunlende was delighted to witness this remarkable accomplishment and was honored to inaugurate the project as the Governor’s representative at the event.

Ogunlende stated that the purpose of this center is to empower the youth of Lagos by providing them with training and resources in modern technologies and various practical skills such as fashion design, photography, makeup artistry, catering, and digital marketing.

Regarding the potential impact of the project, Ogunlende emphasized the importance of initiatives like Project LOUD in equipping and empowering the youth to thrive and succeed in today’s rapidly changing world. By arming them with relevant skills and knowledge, they can become self-reliant and valuable contributors to society.

Ogunlende praised the team, led by Kehinde Bakare, for their innovative approach, ensuring the sustainability and continued value of the initiative beyond the election period.

In conclusion, Ogunlende expressed his pride in being part of the initiative and witnessing firsthand the positive impact it has on the lives of the youth in Lagos. As a way to reward hard work and dedication, and to motivate and encourage the participants, Hon. Ogunlende had the privilege of presenting a new car and other gifts to outstanding members of the initiative.

Hon. Owolabi Falana OJ felicitates with Hon. Tokunbo Wahab on the successful tour of duty as Special Adviser on Education to the Executive Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Mr. Wahab served the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu passionately and meritoriously with initiatives that are impactful and sustainable.

The paragon of excellence was determined and focused to change narrative in the education space for better and giving hopes to students in Lagos State.

One of the landmarks of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s government, the Eko Digital Initiative, has Mr. Tokunbo Wahab as its driving force. This initiative guarantees that willing Lagosians have access to modern/technological resources that would foster learning (at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels) without much impediment. All the libraries and ICT centres pop up in the most remote corners of Lagos, good initiatives!

TW facilitated the construction of the recent commissioned hostel at Lagos State University (LASU), timely and total release of bursary to Lagos students, and the upgrading of owned institutions by Lagos State Government.

Your achievements in a short while as set a big standard in the education sector and I have a strong conviction that history will be kind to you.

Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon Chairman PCC at the just concluded election in Lagos State and GAC member Lagos State, said in an interview that he has known Asiwaju for quite a while now and he is like a father to us.

“I will not forget the era when he was Governor of Lagos State, we inherited a huge burden of activities that needed to be settled, paramount among them is the issue of huge refuse in all part of Lagos. We know getting rid of the refuse will need a lot of money and he came to our aid by assisting us to make sure the refuse are catered away.

Mainland Youth Initiative blocks Students Escape Route in Aiyetoro Junior High School ~Ajasa-Info

A popular proactive Youth Community based Organisation, Mainland Youth initiative has taken bold step to block the escape route of students in Aiyetoro Junior High School, Ebute Meta, Lagos. The action was taken in view of observation taken on why and how students gate-crash during school hours which was carried out during an awareness program organized with security agencies on the need to shun social vices.

The project monitoring officer, Mr Oluwaseun Oshibote urge the students to take advantage of external support given by the Youth organisation in ensuring they get the best of Education, he implore them to be good Ambassadors of the school where he is an alma mata, that the future is just very close to them if they make good use of the gesture.


Mr Oluwatosin Ajayi who coordinated the project called on relevant stakeholders to take holistic look at many challenges affecting learning outcomes from our students in other for them to be productive in future, he further stress the need for the Parent teacher association to partner with the Education district as well as other development partners within and outside the community, this he believes will go a long way to address many of the existing challenges or any that may occur in future.

He however asked the Principal who was full of appreciation to call on Mainland Youth initiative anytime and anyday, that the organisation is always ready to give it’s best to ensure development in Education which is the only investment every Nation needs to grow in all spheres.

The Lagos State Youth Ambassadors holds Grand Finale of IBILE WORD BATTLE for Lagos State Secondary School Students ~Ajasa-Info

The Lagos State Youth Ambassadors, led by Ambassador Aderounmu Zainab, held the Grand Finale of the Public Speaking Competition tagged Ibile Word Battle on 12th May, 2023 at Ikeja Youth Center, Ikeja.

The Public Speaking Competition for secondary school students in Lagos featured three stages, with the first stage being an essay entry stage where the team received over 100 essays from across the five administrative divisions (IBILE) in Lagos. Twenty-five best essays were shortlisted to advance to the second stage which was a public speaking training cum competition.

The second stage took place on Thursday 29th of April 2023, and the training was administered by Anybody Can Speak Academy, the official training partner for the project. From this stage, 10 best speakers were shortlisted to move to the final stage which was themed ‘Society and the Young Smoker: solutions to drug abuse among students in Lagos.
Beyond the competition, students had the opportunity to listen to a transformational speech by a drug abuse coach, Baiye Adebowale. It was attended by Secondary school students from over 50 schools from the six education districts across the five divisions in Lagos.

The team also partnered with the Lagos State Ministry of Education, and principal officers from the education districts were in attendance.

The winners of the competition include: Aiyemobola Ayomide Paul of Yiseyon College (Badagry Division) in 1st position, Ayetowo Rachael Seyide of Yiseyon College (Badagry Division) in second place and Elemoro Anort of Epe Girl’s Secondary School (Epe Division).

The winners went home with awards of excellence, cash prizes: 30,000 naira, 20,000 naira and 10,000 naira respectively, as well as books on leadership: “From Storeroom to Boardroom by Dr. Babs Omotowa PresidentNigerian University of Technology and Management, Aspects of Language and Communication by Dr. Ganiu Bamgbose, Lecturer of English at Lagos State University, and Plan Z by Al Ameen Abolare.

All other participants were also rewarded with certificates and books mentioned above.

With this project, The Lagos State Youth Ambassador aimed at building young voices who would speak against vices like drug abuse among students.

TESLIM OLUSI EMERGES AS THE MOST PROMISING YOUTH IN POLITICS ~Ajasa-Info

Prince Teslim Olusi emerged as the most Promising Youth in Politics amongst other prominent nominees at the RAY Signature Award last night in Lagos, Nigeria.

Teslim Olusi is currently the Board member of Basketball association of the Lagos State Sport Commission, and he has been active in political activities in Lagos Island LG and Lagos state at large

Olusi in his appreciation remarks “This is evident that our commitment to public service is recognized and appreciated, and for this single act I’m honored to be a recipient of this award, this is to ensure that more work would be done individually and collectively in the coming years.”

“To other significant nominees who were shortlisted with me on this category, I wouldn’t want us to deviate from our plans and allow this demoralize us, to have made it up to this point, there’s no gainsay that you’re all an achiever.”

He added “I will like to end this on the note that the organizers of this event had put in more efforts in making sure this is a glamorous event and one that would linger for a while.
I am elated to be a WINNER amongst winners.”

Massive turnouts as Ikorodu Division Celebrates Greater Lagos Rising with the Youths ~Ajasa-Info

Youths in ikorodu and it’s environs had an eventful Sunday at the Ikorodu town Hall as the Greater Lagos rising with the youth (Ikorodu Division), kicked start a first of its kind action packed with fun and entertaining activities to celebrate the second term of the Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwolu.



More so, one of the most defining moment of the day was the ROBOTIC COMPETITION of Secondary schools in the Ikorodu division as part of the Governor Babajide Sanwolu innovation project, which witness the use of Artificial intelligence (AI) playing a vital role in the Lagos Metropolis, and to also get aquatinted with the newly introduced Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by the Lagos state Government earlier this year March 9 2023.

The competition was contested among different schools, the schools were Ojota junior secondary school, Evan Adelaja junior secondary school, Lagos junior modern college, Igbokuta senior Model College, Community senior secondary school Alapere, CMS girls Senior grammar school, such that they were all allowed to showcase how Robots can be put into proper use, most especially in our transport system in Lagos state.

The winners of the competition were announced by MR. Segun Osinaike the (Tutor General Permanent Secretary Education District 4), he said, “we are exited about what we have seen this afternoon, the Lagos state Robotic Ikorodu Chapter, it is operating through IBILE in this zone. The Robotic competition was keenly contested and I will love everyone to agree with me that, it was indeed a great task for the moderator to have come up with the three positions who had done fantastically well in this competition.”


Evan Adelaja junior secondary school won the competition with 98 points and a cash prize of a hundred thousand Naira (₦100,000), while CMS girls senior grammar school came second with 84 points, fifty thousand naira(₦50,000) and Igbokuta Community senior model college also went home with a sum of Thirty thousand Naira(₦30,000) respectively.

It was indeed an entertaining moment which saw a number of talents who came on the stage to deliver some outstanding performance from Ikorodu Division such as TY Sleek, Dhee P, Da’Fresh Olorin, ATM, Hypeman Topz, Hypeman Morgan, Meyrah, Anthony CFR, Lammy Steps, and a host of others with the renowned Ace Fuji act, Alhaji Sulaimon Adio “Atawewe”

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was duly represented by Dr Oyewu, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Segun Osinaike Tutor General Permanent Secretary on Education District IV, Builder Deola Banjo the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA also the Chairman of the organising committee, Hon. SKO Sulaimon Executive Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, Vice Chairman Ikorodu North LCDA Hon. Ameen Apanishile, Hon. Kabir Vice Chairman Ijede LCDA, Comr. Olalekan Biliamin Chairman NYCN Lagos State, among other eminent dignitaries from various Ministries were present to grace the occasion.

Mainland Youth Initiative celebrates Bimbo Ademoye on her Award ~Ajasa-Info

The Mainland Youth Initiative, a popular Community based organisation in Lagos Mainland has joined the entire world to celebrate their own Bimbo Ademoye who emerged as best actress in Comedy on Saturday in her role in Selina, the Award is an annual Premier organised by the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA 2023).

The Youth who joined her during the presentation of the Award to her father pour encomium on Hon. Ademoye for his fatherly role in nurturing not only to his biological children but to all in the community. Bimbo during her visit to her dad on Sunday stated that she came back home to present the Award to her biggest supporter, her backbone and her rock who has always stood by her at all times.

She narrated when her dad took her for an audition and had to wait for about six (6) hours, she appreciated her dad whom she did not meet at home but remembers his popular joint where he grounds with young people whenever he is less busy. She further explained how the community (My hood in her words) helped her produced all the characters that have made her viewers laugh from iya barakat to todowede to selina.

She was heard quote with joy saying “I’ve had to mimic someone from the hood to give those characters life. My name is Bimbo Ademoye, Ademoye Adekunke’s daughter, Ari’s aunty ,and I’m from Ebute meta . Born and bred in the hood. There are so many people I’d love to appreciate. I’m prepping my speech guys.”

A senior Co-Convener of Mainalnd Youth Initiative, Amodu Sheu has Urge parent to mentor their children on the right path of posterity that the only gift a parent can give to their wards is an assured future which is a product of positive mentorship, they further advised parents to emulate the good characters as exhibited by Hon. Ademoye to his children and young people whom he mentors in the community.
