
Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, hosted the quarterly stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Ikorodu Division, bringing together party leaders, executives and stakeholders from the six councils within the division.
The meeting was particularly significant as it marked the final stakeholders’ gathering with the outgoing party executives whose tenure recently came to an end across the six local government and local council development areas in Ikorodu Division.
Addressing the gathering, Rep. Benson expressed appreciation to the outgoing executives for their sacrifices, commitment and contributions to the growth and stability of the APC over the years. He assured them that their service to the party would not be forgotten and urged them to remain steadfast, loyal and committed to the progressive ideals of the APC.
The federal lawmaker also charged party members and stakeholders to begin mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections. He called for support towards the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the election of Lagos State governorship candidate Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the reelection of Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, his own reelection bid, Hon. Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, Ikorodu Constituency I, and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Ikorodu Constituency II seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
According to him, Ikorodu Division has established itself as a stronghold of progressive politics and must once again deliver overwhelming victories for the APC in future elections.
Speaking on behalf of the party leadership, Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani, APC Chairman, Ikorodu Division, commended party members for their steadfastness and loyalty, particularly during and after the recently concluded primary elections.
He noted that the peaceful conduct of party members following the primaries demonstrated their maturity and commitment to the APC. Tijani also conveyed Rep. Benson’s appreciation for the support he has enjoyed from party members over the past three years, describing the lawmaker as a promise keeper.
He urged stakeholders and party faithful to intensify efforts in canvassing support for all APC candidates, adding that President Tinubu has continued to deliver dividends of democracy to the people through the representation and interventions of Rep. Benson.
In a highlight of the event, People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) in Ikorodu Division honoured Rep. Benson with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding leadership, inclusive representation, and unwavering support for persons with disabilities.
The group commended the lawmaker for his continuous interventions, empowerment initiatives and commitment to improving the welfare of persons living with disabilities across the division.
They noted that many members of the disability community have benefited from his programmes and described the award as a token of appreciation for his dedication to their cause.
Responding on behalf of the outgoing executives, several party leaders commended Rep. Benson for sustaining the quarterly stakeholders’ meeting over the years, describing it as one of the most effective platforms for engagement, consultation and unity within the party in Ikorodu Division.
The leaders thanked the lawmaker for his leadership and support, offered prayers for his continued success, and reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to the APC as preparations begin for the next electoral cycle.
