Easter: Imbibe Lessons from Jesus’ Crucifixion and Resurrection for Peace – Oladunjoye ~Ajasa-Info

As the Easter celebrations take place across the country, the Lagos East Vice-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr. Olayinka Oladunjoye has urged Christians to imbibe the innumerable and worthwhile lessons from the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ for peace, progress, and development.

In her Easter message, she joined an array of accomplished political leaders in Lagos East and across the nation to felicitate the devotees of the Christian faith in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

She extolled the Christians for their love and purposeful religious tolerance.

“I am humbled by the spirit of unity and togetherness that we have witnessed in our beloved nation. This special occasion brings together people from different faiths and backgrounds, highlighting the importance of tolerance, respect, and harmony”

“As we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us also reflect on the values that this occasion represents – love, forgiveness, and hope. These are values that are universal and transcend religious boundaries. They remind us of our shared humanity and our duty to work towards a better future for all”

“Therefore, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all those celebrating Easter,” she said.

The former Lagos State Commissioner for Education seized the medium to emphasize the political lessons in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“The resurrection of Jesus Christ serves as a reminder of the dangers of political corruption. The Roman authorities, in collusion with the Jewish leaders, conspired to execute Jesus because he challenged their political and religious authority. Despite the injustices committed against him, he forgave those who persecuted him”

“This act of forgiveness serves as an example of how political conflicts can be resolved through forgiveness and reconciliation rather than through revenge and retaliation,” she added.

Reacting to the political atmosphere currently ongoing in the country in her statement, she noted that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a model of the spirit of sportsmanship that should be imbibed in an election.

She added that by embodying the qualities of sportsmanship, candidates and their supporters can foster a more positive and productive political climate.

“The resurrection of Christ can be likened to the spirit of sportsmanship in an election. It is a story of triumph over adversity, but it is also a story of humility, grace, and forgiveness,”

“When Jesus was crucified, he did not lash out at his oppressors or seek revenge. Instead, he forgave them and offered a message of hope and redemption”

“In an election, there are winners and losers, and both sides need to accept the outcome with grace and humility. Like Jesus, those who win should not gloat or boast, but rather show respect and empathy for their opponents. And those who lose should not harbor bitterness or resentment, but rather accept the result and work towards the greater good,” she said.
