Residents of Imede/Jaladugbo in Ikorodu Local Government Area have regained electricity supply following the commissioning of a 500KVA transformer facilitated by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. (Prince) Adedayo Ladega.
The transformer, which was delivered to the community on March 16, 2026, was installed in accordance with technical and regulatory requirements before being officially commissioned, bringing an end to a prolonged power outage in the area.
The intervention followed a meeting between Hon. Ladega and residents on January 14, 2026, during which the community’s electricity challenge was brought to his attention. The project is part of the administration’s commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs and improving the welfare of residents.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by notable stakeholders, including His Eminence, Shaykh Yahya Olorunoshebi Oshoala Ajagbemokeferi, Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque; the Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, DCNS Busola Isikalu; representatives of Community Development Associations (CDAs); and other community members.
Residents described the project as timely and impactful, noting that the restoration of power has improved living conditions and boosted economic activities within the community. Local business owners also expressed optimism over increased productivity and operational stability following the return of electricity.
Community members commended Hon. Ladega for fulfilling his promise and responding promptly to their needs, describing the intervention as a demonstration of responsive and people-oriented governance.
The project aligns with the Chairman’s SEED Agenda — Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development — and supports the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots level.
