
A special security task force established by the Lagos State Government has commenced an assessment tour of public primary and secondary schools in Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) as part of efforts to strengthen security around educational institutions.
The exercise follows the recent inauguration of the task force by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to enhance the safety of pupils, students, teachers, and other school personnel across the state.
The team, comprising officers from the Adeniji Adele, Maroko, Denton, and Mushin Police Divisions, visited several schools within the council area to assess existing security measures, identify vulnerabilities, and engage stakeholders on strategies to improve school safety.
The delegation was received at the Lekki LCDA Secretariat by representatives of the Executive Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, led by the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Bukola Lawal.
As part of the visit, the task force paid courtesy calls on His Royal Majesty, Oba Liasim Olumuyiwa Ogunbekun, Onilekki of Lekki, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Ismaila Adeleke Akibu, Onilepia of Lepia. Discussions centered on the role of traditional institutions in community policing, intelligence gathering, and strengthening collaboration between residents and security agencies.
The police team reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of schools and creating a secure learning environment across Lagos State. In response, the council’s representatives pledged the administration’s continued support for initiatives aimed at enhancing security and promoting safer communities.
The assessment tour forms part of broader efforts by the Lagos State Government to bolster security infrastructure around schools and safeguard the educational sector.
