A grassroots political mobilization group, the Lagos Unity Movement, has been inaugurated to rally support for the 2027 governorship ambition of Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

The movement was formally launched on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at its temporary secretariat in Ketu, Lagos, with political stakeholders and supporters from across the five divisions of Lagos State in attendance.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Convener of the group, Engr. Rasheed Ayomide Teslim-Balogun, described the initiative as a strategic political mobilization platform aimed at consolidating support structures within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Teslim-Balogun emphasized the need for early preparations and coordinated grassroots engagement to ensure victory for the APC and the emergence of Hamzat as governor in 2027. He explained that the movement was created to unite APC structures and mobilize voters across the state.

Also speaking, the Co-Convener of the movement, Deacon Sunday Olaleye, urged members to intensify voter mobilization efforts, noting that low voter turnout had affected previous elections in the state. He stressed the importance of massive participation in the forthcoming governorship election.

The State Coordinator of the group, Adeleke Babatunde Akadri, said the movement was inspired by Hamzat’s long-standing experience in governance and his contributions to Lagos State over the years.

According to him, the deputy governor has demonstrated commitment, humility, diligence, and capacity through his service under different administrations in the state.

Sayleke added that the Lagos Unity Movement was established to complement existing APC campaign structures and mobilize like-minded individuals in support of Hamzat’s governorship ambition.

He also unveiled a 20-page proposal outlining the aims, objectives, and strategic direction of the movement ahead of the 2027 elections.

The inauguration attracted professionals, political groups, party members, and representatives from local governments and local council development areas across Lagos State.
