
2023/2024 Lions Service year is set to be a year of growth, innovation, and service Leo Omolara Oluwafunke Faniyi, the Pioneer Leo District President, has outlined her vision for the year, focusing on the SLIDEC acronym: Service, Leadership, Innovation, Diversity and Inclusion, Empowerment, and Communication, while the theme for the Lions Service Year is; SPREADING LOVE THROUGH SERVICE.
Service is at the heart of the Lions organization, and Leo Omolara Oluwafunke Faniyi is committed to encouraging and supporting members to plan and execute meaningful service projects that address the needs of their communities. The district will work towards increasing membership, enhancing communication, and strengthening the impact of their service projects.
Leadership is crucial for the success of any organization, and Leo Omolara Oluwafunke Faniyi is committed to providing leadership training and development opportunities for members. Empowering members to become effective leaders will enable them to make a greater impact in the world.

The Pioneer President also outlined some of the initiatives and projects that they have planned for the year, including promoting literacy, education, and health in their communities, as well as working to promote peace.

The core project for the Lions service year are; Construction of a primary School toilet at Eleja Primary School Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos state. Donation Of 100 School Uniform, World Diabetes Day, and Youth Empowerment.
Others are; Blood donation on July 15th and the International Youth Day on August 12th are great initiatives to raise awareness and promote positive change in our communities. The orientation across the region from August 1st to August 27th is a great opportunity to learn and share knowledge with others. World Literacy Day on September 8th and International Day of Peace on September 21st are important initiatives to raise awareness and promote positive change in our communities. Independence Day/Old Peoples Day on October 1st, International Day of Girl Child on October 11th, and World Sight Day on October 12th are great opportunities to celebrate and promote important causes. World Cancer Day on February 4th. Malaria Day on April 25th, Children’s Day Celebration on May 27th, and World Environmental Day on June 5th are great initiatives to promote positive change in our communities.
Leo Omolara Oluwafunke Faniyi’s advice to her fellow Leos is to always remember that service is at the heart of the Lions organization. She encourages members to take ownership of their service projects, to think outside the box, and to develop new and creative ways to serve their communities.
