The Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club, Laid foundation of food bank at Oba Adeboruwa palace, in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA which took place on the 23rd of March.

The President, Lion Asake Modinat Wahab, Lion Olokunola Taofik the Project Director and Lion Benjamin Ijeh a member of the club represented the club, while Leo Faniyi Omolara First Vice District President Leo District 404A1 Nigeria represented Igbogbo platinum Leo Club.

According to the President of the club Lion Asake Modinat Wahab “Having done our community assessment and studies hunger became top piroty in most homes who couldn’t avoid a meal per day indicating extreme poverty thus the passion from Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club to provide the first of its kind in Igbogbo kingdom a food bank to carter for such scenarios of the impoverished in the society, the food bank would provide dignified support for members of the public locked in crisis without diminishing there pride or ego.”

She added “The food bank is opened to Cooperate Bodies,Companies, government bodies or individuals like minds etc Who may want to support to reduce the hunger in our community.”

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, laid the foundation for the food bank alongside High Chief Tajudeen Duduyemi Onasanya Odofin of Igbogbo, Otunba Olarenwaju Obayomi Otunba of Igbogbo, Chief Moshood Odusanya Baale Eregidan and other Prominent Chiefs of Igbogbo Kingdom.

To commemorate the International Girl Child Day, Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club donated 500 menstrual pads Proudly sponsored by iCare Foundation to female students at Ikorodu Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Lagos today 19th October, 2022.

A pep talk was also given by the Guest Speaker, an educationist who is passionate about female child support, Lion Mrs. Funmi Alabi.

Leos from other clubs were present to support Ikorodu Diamond in this impacful project.

The school’s management thanked the organisers and sought more projects like that be conducted in their school.

The club, synonymous with proffering consistent support aid to susceptible and impoverished selves who linger denizens with no means of pursuit saw its plebe members coalesce to merry the presidential installation program which further accentuated the induction of club officers and fresh members.

With Mr Segun Obayendo (chairman of occasion), Dr Daniel Adjekpemevor (father of the day), Mrs Morenike Alaka (mother of the day) and lion Kola Oyekanmi as a guest speaker, the investiture also validated the presence of the outgoing president (lion Isola Musfiu Oladimeji) who’s parting oration eloquently serenaded the foyer.

Detailing his accomplishments, lion Isola stated, “With a sense of accomplishment of a very successful Lions year 2020/2021, I provide my stewardship as the 16th President of the club, Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club, after giving me the honour to serve and lead, Together with love in service encompassing all pointers on the terrace to serve humanity. I started my assignment as President of the Club on July 1st, 2020 and was Lion Isola Musfiu Oladimeji presented to the public during the Club investiture ceremony and fund Immediate Past President raising on December 6th, 2020”

“Almighty Allah deserves the glory and also the efforts of the club members, during my service year, we were able to carry out the following projects with the funds raised from the public: They include; Embarking on free Adult literacy class(Legacy Project), Youth Empowerment program, Free Diabetes Test, Distribution of free Eye Glasses, Sponsorship of 4 cataract surgeries, N50,000 Grants to the Leo Club, Rehabilitation of the Club Legacy project (Club built School Toilet), Fight against Hunger and Poverty 100%, Tree planting, Donation to Childhood Cancer Units at LUTH, Visitation and donation to the Vocational studies centre-Owutu and Foundation Laying of another Club Legacy Project (Six-units loillets Block) at Jamaatul Islamiyahh Primary School, Sabo, Ikorodu”

“As the club president, despite Covid-19 pandemic, we were awarded best club in the district 1st quarter of the year, for exceptional performance in projects and other Service Activities. We participated in the Peace Poster Contest and we were ably represented by sponsoring Kesbo school, westhall College and Uncle Bayus College. Though our club did take 2nd position. In this Lions year, we were able to mobilize at least 10 members for their NLCF with one-star fellow, one Melvin Jones Fellow(MJF) and 3 members for campaign 100 with 100 dollars each”

Installation Officiated by Lion Kola Oyekanmi, the Outgoing president officially passed the leadership medal to Lion Ayo Ogunlana Roseline, who received the mantle with her entire household in full support.

Speaking after her installation, Lion Roseline Ogunlana averred, “God made it possible for us to witness today, and for granting me the opportunity to serve humanity through the International Association of Lions Club District 404A1 Nigeria. Am highly honoured to play host to all dignitaries who have come to celebrate with me, for my installation as the 17th president of Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club. My appreciation also goes to all members of Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club for the trust they have in me by electing me as the President for this Lions year”

Vision old peoples’ homes/motherless homes and Rehabilitation Centres to donate foods and clothing materials, also to provide hearing to the hearing inspired members in society”
