
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the country’s commitment to eradicating malaria and safeguarding public health as the world marks World Malaria Day 2026.
In her message to commemorate the annual observance on April 25, the First Lady emphasized the importance of collective action in tackling malaria, a disease that continues to pose significant health challenges, particularly in vulnerable communities.
Highlighting the 2026 theme, “United Against Malaria,” she called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders, increased domestic investment in healthcare, and the adoption of innovative strategies to address persistent issues such as drug resistance and unequal access to medical services.
The First Lady stressed the need to intensify preventive measures and expand access to life-saving interventions.
She urged that all communities, especially those at higher risk, must be equipped with essential tools and resources required for effective malaria prevention and treatment.
She further noted that a unified approach remains critical to achieving a malaria-free society, expressing optimism that sustained efforts and partnerships will yield significant progress.
Reaffirming her support for ongoing health initiatives, the First Lady encouraged Nigerians and the global community to remain committed to the fight against malaria.
