It is no longer news that the pedestrian bridge connecting Maidan Orile Patele to Mile 12 in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA had collapsed on Friday 8th July due to torrential rain and flood.
In less than 24 hours of the sad incident, Hon Femi Saheed representing Kosofe Constituency 2 at the State Assembly rushed to the scene in company of Baale Maidan Orile Patele and other community leaders.

The incident though recorded no casuality but plunged residents of Maidan Orile especially women and children into difficult situation in accessing their homes.
Residents now had to ply long and swampy routes in Owode and Weighbridge areas or board canoe to cross the Maidan river.

Hon Femi Saheed in his usual proactive ways of attending to people’s plight visited the sight of the collapsed bridge and other alternative routes to assess the level of damage, identify with the affected people and seek immediate measures to alleviate their sufferings.

The lawmaker who was also playing host to his constituents on the Eidil Kabir Celebration left the feasting gathering and defied heavy rain to tour all flash spots to see what the government could do in the immediate and long term to address the access road need of Maidan Orile Patele residents.
The Honourable while addressing the Baale and other residents of the community thanked God that the incident did not claim life. He assured he would use his office to quickly lobby relevant government agencies and stakeholders to come up with quick means of addressing the situation and seek permanent solution to the access road.
