….The winner will have the rare privilege of been a legislator representing Kosofe Constituency 1 for a day.
The lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Education (Ministry and Agencies), Hon Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon will be hosting the Secondary Schools Debate Competition for his Constituents tagged “Hon Okla Sponsored Kosofe Constituency 1 Secondary Schools Debate Competition”.
The Topic for the debate contest is: : GOVERNMENT SHOULD SPEND MORE MONEY ON SECURITY THAN EDUCATION
The prizes for the winners are as follows:
Winner ••• ( Student/Teacher) #250,000
1st Runner up••• ( Student/ Teacher) #150,000
2nd Runner up•••
There are consolidation prizes of T Shirts for other contestants/debaters.
In addition, the winner of the contest will have the rare privilege, of been the legislator, representing Kosofe Constituency 1 for a day and will be conducted round the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Also, the winner will meet with the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II.
The date for the debate competition is Wednesday 16th February 2022 and the venue is Immaculate Heart Event Hall, Maryland @10:00am.
Attendance is strictly by invitation.
According to the Lagos lawmaker, the noble initiative is aimed at developing students among others critical thinking, vocabulary prowess, build the spirit of sportsmanship, instill and boasting their self-confidence, developing them in the art of public speaking and nurturing them for leadership positions in the future.
Hon Okanlawon divulged that the debate competition is in line with the Education and Technology components of the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the Lagos State administration to improve the learning outcomes of students in public secondary schools across Kosofe Constituency 1.
