
The Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club, in collaboration with HOA Addicts, has renovated the Library and ICT Hub at Zumratul Islamiyyah Senior Secondary School as part of its legacy project aimed at enhancing educational development and providing students with a more conducive environment for learning, research, and digital literacy.
The project included a comprehensive facelift of the facilities, featuring the provision of a new computer set, replacement of selected furniture, installation of four ceiling fans, window blinds, and new bookshelves to improve the overall learning experience for students and staff.
The project, which was officially unveiled at the school premises in Igbogbo, involved a comprehensive facelift of the library, on Thursday, 4th of June.
The official commissioning and tape-cutting ceremony was performed by Lion Adeyinka Olufunmilola Olukokun, VP Admin of the School, who commended the club members and partners for investing in the educational future of the students.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President of Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club, Leo Ashiru Owolabi Ismail, described the project as a demonstration of the club’s commitment to educational development and community service.
He noted that the renovated library was conceived as a legacy project that would have a lasting impact on the students and the school community.
According to him, education remains one of the most effective tools for societal transformation, adding that the club was proud to contribute to creating a better learning atmosphere where students can study, research, and develop their intellectual capacity.
He expressed appreciation to all partners and members who contributed to the successful completion of the project.
In her remarks, the Principal of Zumratul Islamiyyah Senior Secondary School expressed profound gratitude to the Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club and HOA Addicts for the thoughtful intervention.
She noted that the upgraded facility would greatly enhance teaching and learning activities within the school, while encouraging the students to make proper use of the library and maintain the facilities provided.
Also speaking at the event, Leo Advisor, Lion Adedoyin Ogunbiyi, commended the Leos for executing a laudable and impactful project. He stated that the initiative aligns with the humanitarian goals and service ideals of Lions Clubs International, particularly in the area of youth empowerment and educational support.
He urged the members to remain committed to projects that positively impact their communities.
District President, Leo Tunde Lasisi, also praised the club for the remarkable achievement, describing the project as a shining example of what can be accomplished when young people unite for a common purpose.
He noted that the renovated library would serve as a lasting legacy for generations of students and encouraged other Leo clubs to emulate the initiative by implementing projects that address critical needs within their communities.
Region 2 Director, Leo Keji Lawal, expressed pride in the achievement, noting that it was gratifying to see such an impactful project emanating from her club. She described the initiative as laudable and encouraged the students to make good use of the renovated facility.
She further urged them to remain dedicated to their studies and take advantage of the improved learning environment to excel academically.
The commissioning ceremony attracted Leo and Lion members, school management, students, community leaders, and other stakeholders who applauded the initiative as a significant contribution to educational development in Igbogbo and the Ikorodu division at large.
