Hon. Ma’Ruf Akanni Ajetunmobi, former aspirant for Lagos Island Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has dismissed reports suggesting that he plans to return to the United States after the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections, describing the claims as false, misleading and unfounded.

In a statement issued by the AJET Media Team, Ajetunmobi said the rumours were being circulated to create doubt about his commitment to the party and his readiness to take on future responsibilities within the APC.

The statement noted that Ajetunmobi voluntarily left a comfortable life in the United States to return to Nigeria in pursuit of public service, community development and the advancement of the APC.

According to the statement, his political journey and service to the people of Lagos Island Constituency II have been characterised by dedication, sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to the progress of Lagos State and Nigeria.

Addressing the speculation, Ajetunmobi reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and its electoral objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I am fully on ground in Lagos and remain committed to the growth and success of our great party. My assignment is clear: to mobilise three million votes for the APC in 2027 in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our governorship candidate and all APC candidates across Lagos State. I have no intention of abandoning this responsibility or the people and party I serve,” he said.

Ajetunmobi disclosed that he is actively engaging stakeholders across Lagos State and developing a comprehensive grassroots mobilisation framework aimed at strengthening the party’s structures and positioning it for electoral success in 2027.

The statement further emphasised that he remains physically present in Lagos, accessible to party members and stakeholders, and fully prepared to participate in all political, organisational and campaign activities leading up to the elections.

It added that his focus remains on expanding the APC’s support base, promoting party unity and contributing to the successful implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ajetunmobi also reassured party leaders, members and supporters of his unwavering loyalty to the APC and his commitment to the collective goal of securing a resounding victory for the party in the 2027 elections.

He urged party faithful and members of the public to disregard the rumours and continue supporting efforts aimed at strengthening the APC and advancing the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
