
Prince Abdullateef Adedayo Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, has commenced a listening tour across all wards in the local government area, today, 3rd of September. The tour aims to engage with residents, understand their needs, and identify areas requiring attention.
The Chairman emphasized that his administration is committed to doing well for the people of Ikorodu and fulfilling the promises made during the electioneering campaign. He noted that the listening tour is designed to allow him to hear from the people and identify areas that require attention. “We can’t do it all at once, but we will take it step by step,” he said.
During the tour, the Chairman announced plans to start free vocational training in Aga soon, where participants will receive certificates and potential job opportunities abroad.
He also promised to provide buses to transport residents who have registered online for their Permanent Voter Cards to the INEC office.
Residents of Otuja CDA expressed surprise and delight at the Chairman’s visit, which they said was a rare occurrence. The Chairman has promised to commence work on the cementary road, which will link Sabo, Eyita, Shagamu road, and Ijebu Ode road. Pa Bola Balogun of Otuja Harmony Phase II praised the Chairman for commencing visibility studies for the road, which he said was a vital project that would ease traffic.
The Chairman’s actions have been praised by residents and CDC representatives, who noted that his engagement with the people is a rare occurrence. Hon. Idris Shokunbi, Councillor representing Ward A, praised the Chairman for bringing government to the doorsteps of the people. “You’ve started well, I pray you will end well,” he said. He also mentioned that the Chairman has made APC proud and that the people will see that the Chairman is a promise keeper.
Mr. Ilesanmi, Ward Chairman Ward A, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman for visiting their ward, saying it was a great joy for them. Dcns Wonuola Oshinowo, Lagos East Women Leader, appreciated the Chairman for his insight, saying this is a great example of a government ready to work.
In Ward B, the Councillor, Hon. Mutiat Fatuga, appreciated the Chairman for his commitment to fulfilling his promises. She described the Chairman as a “talk and do” Chairman and said that’s the kind of worthy Leader that they need. The Ward B CDC representative also praised the Chairman for being a promise keeper and requested street lights, a health center, primary school, and road construction.
Residents also requested employment and empowerment opportunities, as well as recreation centers. CDC representative Mr. Olumade appreciated the Chairman for this giant step, noting it’s rare to see such gatherings after assumption in office.
The Chairman promised to look into the requests and work towards addressing the needs of the residents. The listening tour is a significant step towards building a stronger relationship between the government and the people. The Chairman’s commitment to addressing the needs of the residents is expected to bring about positive change in the local government area.
Hon. Bisiriyu Alogba, Vice Chairman, expressed gratitude to the residents for their turnout. He stated that the Government led by Prince Ladega is committed to bringing governance to the people and described the initiative as the beginning of a greater Ikorodu.
Hon. Alogba appreciated the residents for coming out in large numbers, highlighting the importance of community participation in shaping the future of Ikorodu.
