
In a bid to usher in a new era of service and volunteerism, Leo Tunde A. Lasisi, District President of the Lions Club, officially commenced the Lions Service Year with a radio talk at IKD FM in Ikorodu and a press conference at Olokunola Factory, attended by Leo and Lions leaders, on the 5th of July.
In his address, Leo Lasisi expressed deep gratitude and immense pride in being the district president, viewing it as a responsibility and a call to serve. He acknowledged the efforts of every leader, volunteer, and member, noting that their dedication inspires him daily. “You are the heart of this district,” he emphasized. “Your dedication inspires me every day.”
Lasisi highlighted the importance of leadership, stating that it is not about position, but about purpose, service, and the courage to take bold steps. He noted that the new season presents fresh opportunities to innovate, reach out, and make an even greater impact. “Let us remain united in our goals, focus on our mission, and fearless in the face of challenges,” he urged.
The district president outlined the core project for the Lions Service Year, which is to provide an accident emergency centre at IMC Secondary School in Ijebu Ode. Lasisi also highlighted the district’s vision to raise the service standard, focusing on empowerment, hunger relief, disaster relief, vision, and culture emancipation through adventure. “As part of our vision to raise the service standard of our district, our activities shall focus on empowerment, hunger relief, disaster relief, vision, and significantly, we will also be venturing into culture emancipation through adventure to spread the service of the Leo program beyond the surface,” he stated.
In addition, Lasisi emphasized the importance of empowering members with employment opportunities to sustain their lives and contribute to project execution. During the radio presentation, he stated, “As a Leo district president, I, with the leadership of the district, will focus more on empowering our members more. This is to ensure that our resourceful members are empowered with employment that will be bringing them finance to sustain their life expectancy.”
Lasisi concluded by thanking everyone for believing in the vision and walking the journey with him. “Together, we can build a district that doesn’t just exist, but one that leads, inspires, and transforms,” he said, expressing confidence in the district’s future. “The best is yet to come,” he added, inspiring hope and optimism among the members.
