
A new chapter has begun in the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) with the appointment of Odumbo Taiwo as the new Education Secretary. In his inaugural address to the heads of department, staff, and stakeholders, Odumbo outlined his vision for the LGEA and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in achieving their goals.
Describing himself as a “son of the soil,” Odumbo highlighted his grassroots background, having been born, raised, and brought up in the Ojurowo area of Itumeko. He expressed his understanding of the challenges faced by the community and emphasized the need for everyone to work together to address them.
With 19 years of experience as a principal in various schools, including Lagos State University International School and Young Comprehensive College, Odumbo emphasized his familiarity with the education system. As a political scientist and human resource practitioner, he stressed the importance of people in governance and the need for collaboration to achieve their objectives.
Odumbo’s address was filled with passion and conviction, as he emphasized the need to ensure that every child, particularly those on the streets, is given the opportunity to succeed. He called on all stakeholders, including staff, parents, and unions, to key into the collective agenda of providing quality education for all.
The new Education Secretary promised a new era of punctuality and productivity, drawing from his experience in the private sector. He expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their support and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.
In his closing remarks, Odumbo greeted the gathering with the traditional “Eku ile o”.
