DYON & OTHER ORGANIZATIONS REACHED OUT TO PEOPLE IN RURAL COMMUNITY ~Ajasa-Info

The AKUFO COMMUNITY OUTREACH is one breed out of passion to help our communities especially rural settlements all over the country to grow in all ramifications. This project is an idea of DYNAMIC YOUTH ORGANIZATION OF NIGERIA whose National president is Amb. Ajayi Abiodun Abidemi popularly known as MC Mandate in collaboration with some NGOs; Rotaract Clubs Zone K Oyo State(D9125), Rotaract Clubs in Lagos and Ogun States( D9110) and The Child’s Online Foundation whose goal is to serve humanity.

The Akufo community outreach centred around providing basic literacy, empowering young girls and women with vocational skills. The project started on Thursday 22nd April 2021, where Ambassadors paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Oyo state Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni. The Commissioner was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. The visit was one of our pre-outreach movement before we embarked on the community outreach to Akufo Village, Ibadan, Oyo state. A “YOUTH CHANGE CHAMPION AWARD” was presented to the Commissioner.

We also had a Joint ROTARY-ROTARACT fellowship between Rotary Club of Ibadan and Rotary Club of Ibadan Pathfinder. Rotaract Clubs in Oyo, Lagos and Ogun states were present. The fellowship was hosted by RC IBADAN with the Guest Speaker Past District Governor Kabiesi Adedoyin Adelekun who spoke on the topic “MENTORING”. It was a wonderful experience as we witnessed official presentation of the newly Chartered Rotary Club of Ibadan Pathfinder.

Moving forward, on Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th April 2021, volunteers across various organizations like “Dynamic Youth Organization of Nigeria, Rotaract Clubs Zone K Oyo state(D9125), Rotaract Clubs in Lagos/Ogun States (D9110), The Child’s Online Foundation and others participated in the outreach project at Akufo Village.

Over 1,000 exercise books, varieties of textbooks, school bags and other educational materials were donated to students of Akufo High School on Friday. We also had career exposition talk with the students to guide them in choosing their career.

On Saturday, we empowered over 100 girls, boys and women with vocational skills such as SOAP MAKING, MAKE UP/MAKE OVER and SHOE MAKING skills.
Other fun activities include;

  • A visit to the husband and wife Iroko trees at the village
  • A visit to the Village’s ancient river
  • Cleaning of the Akufo Market
  • Early morning aerobics session
  • A visit to LONDON PARK (ADRON HOMES) located in the village
  • A friendly football match between volunteers and the community youths
  • Also the Alakufo of Akufo HRM OBA Olabamiji Thomas Ajayi hosted us and we presented him “DISTINGUISHED HUMANITARIAN AWARD”

The Convener, Amb. Abiodun Ajayi said the people of the community were delighted to have us around. In times to come, we would be having more projects like this in communities across different states and regions in Nigeria. Indeed it was a project worthwhile, we believe people of Akufo won’t forget our own quota to their community in a hurry said by Amb. Abiodun Ajayi.
