
Youth stakeholders across Ikorodu Division have endorsed Rep. Babajimi Benson for his infrastructural development projects, youth-focused initiatives, and community interventions across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The endorsement was made during a stakeholders’ gathering and press conference held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, attended by youth leaders, student representatives, community stakeholders, voluntary organisations, and political figures from across the division.
Speaking during the event, Comrade Jackson described Hon. Benson as a visionary leader whose projects have had direct positive impacts on residents, students, and youths across Ikorodu Division.
He highlighted several projects credited to the lawmaker, including the construction of stadiums, diagnostic centres, trauma and sport centres, and modern primary healthcare centres operating round the clock.
According to him, Hon. Benson also facilitated the installation of thousands of solar-powered street lights and over 35 transformers across communities within Ikorodu Division.
Other achievements listed include the construction of more than 112 roads across local governments and LCDAs, over 55 schools, ICT hubs equipped with over 500 laptops, and a 100-bed hospital.
Comrade Jackson further stated that the lawmaker has provided employment opportunities for over 480 youths and students through scholarship schemes, grants, empowerment programmes, and international exposure initiatives, including sponsorship opportunities to China and other countries.
He stressed that the projects highlighted were already completed and actively impacting residents across the constituency.
The President of the Students’ Union Government of Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Comrade David Oluwasegun Gabriel, also commended Hon. Benson for his infrastructural projects around school communities.
He particularly praised the construction of roads around the Odoguyan area, noting that the projects have improved accessibility, movement, and safety for students and residents.
The student leader also appreciated the construction and upgrading of the healthcare centre at Igbo-Olomu in Ikorodu, describing it as a major intervention that has improved healthcare delivery within surrounding communities.
According to him, the projects have directly benefited students, youths, and residents, demonstrating Hon. Benson’s commitment to grassroots development and quality representation.
Also speaking during the event, Comrade Waliu Adeyeri described the lawmaker as “Mr. Light” due to the widespread installation of solar-powered street lights across Ikorodu communities, which he said has significantly improved security and public safety.
He also praised Hon. Benson for supporting indigent residents through the Apo-Anu initiative, awarding scholarships to students, and sponsoring youth development opportunities abroad.
Several youth and political stakeholders attended the gathering, including Comrade Soyiga Samuel Adeshina, SLA to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Comrade Awolesi Ekundayo Idowu, President-elect of the National Association of Ikorodu Division Students, and coordinators of NYCN branches across Ikorodu Division.
Participants at the event reaffirmed their support for leaders whose projects and programmes continue to positively impact youths, students, traders, and vulnerable residents across the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
