
Transport union leaders, community stakeholders and political supporters on Thursday gathered at the Babajide Sanwo-Olu International Market in Ikosi for a strategic engagement with Dr. Muritala Seriki Ishola (DSM), aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency II.
The meeting brought together members of the Lagos State Executive Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) alongside the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA branch leadership in a strong show of support and consultation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the engagement, the Lagos State Chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Sego Mustapha Adekunle, openly declared support for the aspiration of Dr. Seriki Ishola, describing him as a visionary youth and capable leader with the potential to deliver quality representation for the constituency.
He urged transport workers, residents of Ketu and the wider Kosofe Constituency II to remain united and actively participate in the democratic process as preparations toward 2027 continue. Adekunle also commended the President of Nigeria and encouraged residents to sustain their support for government initiatives.
Also speaking at the gathering, the Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Hon. Olayinka, appreciated stakeholders and attendees for their presence, stressing the importance of continued engagement and collaboration among community leaders, transport workers and residents.
In his remarks, Dr. Muritala Seriki Ishola thanked the leadership of NURTW, community stakeholders and supporters for the warm reception and endorsement of his aspiration.
He noted that engagements with grassroots stakeholders provide opportunities to interact directly with residents, understand their concerns and strengthen unity across Kosofe Constituency II.
Dr. Seriki further acknowledged the efforts of the President of Nigeria and the Lagos State Government in ongoing development initiatives, while emphasising the need for sustained cooperation between government and the people.
He assured attendees of his commitment to remaining accessible and continuing consultations with residents, youth groups, market leaders and transport stakeholders across the constituency as part of his Assembly aspiration.
Dignitaries present at the meeting included the Lagos State Chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Sego Mustapha Adekunle; the Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Hon. Olayinka; Council Leader, Hon. Ismaila; Hon. The engagement concluded with appreciation to participants for their turnout and continued involvement in community affairs.
