Hon. Toyin Gafaar Shakirudeen Bolowotan has officially declared his intention to contest for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during his declaration, Bolowotan addressed party leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and residents of Ikorodu, stating that his ambition is driven by a clear vision of “A GREATER IKORODU.” He emphasized the need for people-focused legislation that protects citizens, empowers youths, strengthens communities, and promotes sustainable development.

According to him, the role of a legislator goes beyond lawmaking, noting that it includes effective representation, oversight for accountability, and the creation of laws that translate into tangible progress for the people.

He appealed to party stakeholders for support, endorsement, and adoption as the APC flag bearer, expressing confidence that with collective backing, Ikorodu can achieve greater developmental strides.

Bolowotan also used the opportunity to canvass support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the emergence of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Governor, Senator Tokunbo Abiru for the Senate, and Honourable Babajimi Benson for the House of Representatives.

He further acknowledged prominent leaders in Ikorodu and Lagos State politics for their leadership and mentorship, including former Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye; Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe; Baba Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun; Senator Tokunbo Abiru; and Honourable Babajimi Benson, describing their contributions as instrumental to the growth of the party and the constituency.

The declaration event also witnessed endorsements from key stakeholders. Former APC LGA Chairman in Ikorodu, Alhaji R.I. Jinadu, publicly declared his support for Bolowotan, describing him as capable and tested, with a proven track record in previous positions held. He further noted that many stakeholders are quietly backing the aspirant.

Similarly, former Vice Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sesan Dada, expressed confidence in Bolowotan’s candidacy, highlighting his experience, knowledge, and strong political network as qualities that make him suitable for the role.

Other stakeholders at the event also reaffirmed their support, signaling growing momentum behind Bolowotan’s bid for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
