
Former two-term lawmaker, Hon. Rasheed Makinde, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II following his victory in the party’s primary election ahead of the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly polls.
Makinde secured victories in several participating wards during the keenly contested exercise, defeating fellow aspirant Olotu in key areas across the constituency.
According to the results announced from the participating wards, Ward F recorded 420 votes for Makinde against 241 for Olotu, while Ward A (G) delivered 1,400 votes for Makinde and 230 votes for Olotu.
In Ward E (I), Olotu polled 513 votes to defeat Makinde, who secured 304 votes. Ward H (BCD) also produced a wide margin in favour of Makinde, who garnered 4,418 votes against Olotu’s 1,296 votes. Meanwhile, Ward G (K) saw Olotu narrowly edge Makinde with 685 votes to 650.
Party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters described the outcome of the primary as a reflection of the confidence reposed in Makinde’s leadership, political experience, and grassroots support within the constituency.
The primary election was conducted peacefully under the supervision of party officials and electoral representatives, with members commending the orderly process.
With the victory, Hon. Rasheed Makinde will now fly the APC flag in the Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II election during the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly polls.
