
A delegation from the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture has visited Otolu in Lekki LCDA for the inspection of a proposed Agro Food Hub, aimed at improving market access and strengthening local economic activities.
The delegation, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Fatai Audu, represented the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Abisola Olusanya. The Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, was represented at the exercise by the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Bukola Lawal.
During the visit to Otolu Modern Market, the proposed site for the Agro Food Hub was presented to the team, drawing commendation from the Permanent Secretary, who praised the level of community participation and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to delivering a standard market facility. He noted that similar projects have recorded success in other parts of Lagos.
Speaking on behalf of the council chairman, Dr. Lawal reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring the project is completed, emphasizing its importance in promoting commerce and supporting grassroots development.
Also speaking, the Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Adeleke Olabanjo, highlighted the enthusiasm among traders, particularly market women, noting that the Agro Food Hub would ease the burden of long-distance trading and bring economic opportunities closer to residents.
The engagement also featured contributions from key stakeholders, including the Iyaloja General of Lekki LCDA, the Iyalaje of Ise Land, the Seriki of the Hausa community, youth representatives, and other community leaders, all of whom expressed support for the project.
