In a strategic and people-focused health intervention, Lekki LCDA marked the 2026 World Malaria Day with a comprehensive medical outreach in Akodo-Ise, one of the communities with a high prevalence of malaria in Lagos State.

The outreach, themed “United Against Malaria,” was designed not just as a symbolic observance, but as a direct response to a pressing public health concern within the community.

Residents turned out in large numbers, with over 350 beneficiaries receiving free and essential healthcare services across multiple units, including Vitals and Blood Pressure Checks, Laboratory Tests (RBS, RVS, HBsAg, RDT), Consultation, Eye Checks, Pharmacy, Family Planning, Tuberculosis Screening, and Dental Care.

Beyond treatment, the outreach emphasized education and prevention. A detailed health talk was delivered on the causes, signs and symptoms, prevention, and treatment of malaria, equipping residents with the knowledge needed to protect themselves and their families.

Representing the Executive Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Bukola Lawal, addressed the community, reiterating the administration’s commitment to reducing the malaria burden through sustained healthcare initiatives. She also encouraged residents to take full advantage of the Primary Health Centre in Akodo-Ise for continuous and accessible medical care.

The outreach was strengthened by the presence of key stakeholders, including the representative of the WHO State Coordinator, Mrs. Ngozi Onyejiaka, and the Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, Dr. Adenike Oguntuase, alongside Supervisors and the Council’s Legal Officer, demonstrating a unified institutional effort toward combating malaria.

Free medications were distributed, diagnostic tests conducted, and critical services rendered, bringing relief, awareness, and hope directly to the people.

This intervention reflects a broader commitment: that governance must not only be seen, but felt, especially in communities where the need is greatest.
