Ikorodu Stakeholder Endorses Babajimi Benson, Cites Track Record of Performance
Hon. Hakeem Babajide Taoreed has endorsed Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing his leadership as one anchored on “proven performance, accessibility, and measurable development.”
In an official statement titled “4WARD Is the Only Direction — Together, We Move for Quality Representation,” Taoreed said there is a growing and consistent wave of support for Benson across Ikorodu, driven by what he described as tangible results rather than sentiment.
He noted that consultations with residents, youth groups, and community leaders indicate sustained confidence in Benson’s representation, with emphasis on visible development projects and engagement at the grassroots level.
According to him, Hon. Benson’s tenure has delivered significant progress across key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, social welfare, and legislative representation.
On infrastructure and security, Taoreed highlighted the facilitation of over 100 road projects across Ikorodu, including the 13-kilometre Offin–Oreta road linking multiple communities. He also referenced road upgrades in Ilemere, Olu-Odo, and Idi-Oro, alongside the establishment of a Smart Police Station in Elepe.
In the health sector, he commended the completion of the 80-bed Maternal and Child Hospital in Imota, describing it as a landmark improvement in maternal healthcare delivery. He also noted ongoing efforts toward reviving the Federal Medical Centre project in Igbogbo-Baiyeku.
He further pointed to social welfare and empowerment initiatives such as the iCare FoodBank programme, educational grants, ICT training, and skills acquisition schemes targeted at youths. The establishment of IKD 106.1FM, he added, has strengthened community communication and engagement.
On legislative performance, Taoreed noted that Benson, who chairs the House Committee on Defence, has sponsored over 50 bills, some of which have been passed into law, including the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Amendment Act.
He stressed that continuity remains essential for sustained development, warning that disrupting ongoing projects could slow down progress already achieved in the constituency.
“Development is a continuous process that requires consistency, vision, and dedication. Hon. Benson has laid a solid foundation that must be consolidated,” he stated.
Taoreed therefore formally declared his support for Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson for another term, urging constituents to remain united in sustaining what he described as “ongoing progress and expanding opportunities in Ikorodu.”
