As part of his ongoing “Thank You” visitation, former Ikorodu North LCDA Chairman, Dr. Adéọlá Adébisi Banjọ, paid a congratulatory visit to the newly elected local government chairmen within the Ikorodu Division. The visits were made to Hon. Abdullateef Adedayo Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government; Hon. Sunday Benson, Chairman of Imota LCDA; and Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA and Dr. Banjọ’s immediate successor.
The visits were held in celebration of the chairmen’s first 100 days in office, marking an important milestone in their administrations.
During the visit, Dr. Banjọ commended the leadership strides and early achievements of the new chairmen, describing their first 100 days as a reflection of purpose-driven leadership, humility, and vision. He emphasized that leadership is defined by service to the people rather than position or power, and that true progress is achieved through consistent, people-centered actions.
He encouraged the chairmen to continue building unity, empowering the youth, and supporting families as a foundation for lasting community development. According to him, genuine leadership is measured not by public applause but by the quiet impact that improves the lives of citizens.
At Ikorodu North LCDA, Dr. Banjọ presented a symbolic frame titled “A Prayer from Banjọ” to his successor, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, in recognition of their shared journey in public service. He expressed pride in seeing his former deputy now serving as council chairman, describing his emergence as a story of grace, growth, and commitment.
Dr. Banjọ highlighted the importance of humility, patience, and compassion in leadership, reminding his successor that leadership is a trust and a call to serve rather than an entitlement. He expressed confidence that the solid foundation they had built together would be sustained and strengthened under the new administration.
He concluded with a prayer for continued wisdom, strength, and compassion for all the new chairmen as they steer their respective councils toward peace, progress, and prosperity.
Dr. Banjọ reaffirmed his belief that their leadership will remain a blessing to the people and an inspiration for future generations.
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, expressed appreciation to Dr. Banjo, for paying the courtesy visit to the council secretariat.
Ladega described the visit as a rare gesture, noting that it is uncommon for former chairmen to visit serving ones. He prayed for Dr. Banjo’s continued progress beyond his past position as council chairman.
The Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Hammed Aroyewun, also acknowledged Dr. Banjo’s leadership qualities and successful tenure in office. He highlighted the loyalty of Banjo’s former aides and associates, who continue to maintain close relationships with him even after his tenure ended. Aroyewun described this as a valuable lesson in leadership and relationship-building.
In his address, the Mayor of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, commended Dr. Banjo for fostering unity and mutual respect among council leaders across Ikorodu. He emphasized that the visit reflected strong bonds of brotherhood and understanding among current and past council chairmen.
Apanishile noted that his administration’s success has been influenced by lessons learned from Dr. Banjo’s leadership style, especially in patience, collaboration, and administrative efficiency.
He also highlighted the developmental progress achieved within his first 100 days in office, including improved infrastructure, administrative reforms, and new service facilities.
Among the recorded achievements are the provision of a 200KV generator to power the council secretariat, installation of new computer systems and office equipment, procurement of two additional revenue buses, and acquisition of an ambulance for emergency health services.
The administration has also completed the Odunla Health Centre and area office projects, upgraded the waiting areas for women and patients, and expanded access to clean water through multiple WaterAid-supported projects. The partnership with WaterAid, initially set to end in 2028, has now been extended to 2032 due to the council’s effective collaboration.
Within the past two months, six water projects have been commissioned, with two more scheduled for completion before the end of November and an additional four expected by year-end. The council also reported progress on several ongoing road construction projects facilitated through both the Senator representing the area and the Member of the House of Representatives.
Apanishile reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained development, inclusiveness, and teamwork, urging all stakeholders to work together in advancing the growth of Ikorodu North and the wider Ikorodu division.
