
Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club graduate their Adult students for the State Mass Education and Literacy (Eko N Keko) program on International Literacy Day. This initiative, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, aims to empower individuals through education and literacy.
Earlier in the day In commemoration of the Adult Literacy Day Lions International District 404-A3 organised a walk which Lions Club across the Districts participated.
Lion folashade shotomide the 1st Vice District Governor 404-A3, Expressed the purpose of the event, she said “Today is world literacy day, and one of the program of Lion’s club international is Reading action Program where we sensitive people about literacy, that is why we took a walk around, talking to people that are not literate, encouraging them to come and learn at the adult center that is being managed by Lion’s club in Ikorodu inside Methodist primary school, along side with the Lagos state Government, themed ‘Eko nkeko”.
She implore everyone one to work together spreading the news about Adult education to help others who are in need of it to reduce the rate of illiteracy in the society.
Lion Lady Funmi Alabi Project Coordinator, District Chairperson said “We have actually produced a lot of graduate, most of them are not in the country , it’s a great opportunity for us to see these learners striving after attending our centre.
She explain further that interested people can come on Thursday and Friday to learn how to read and write to elevate their value she said ” The center here is being managed by the Ikorodu Diamond Lions club along with Lagos State Government, it has been in existence since 2014, and we been training students and the certified ones have been graduating “.
Ikorodu Diamond Lions club support the teachers and sometimes the learners with transportation fare every month to aid the learning “.
She implore the graduands to continue spreading this opportunity to others and use what they have learnt to build and tap into any opportunity available.
