IKORODU CENTRAL MOSQUE YOUTH UNVEILS PLAN FOR IKORODU RECITE 1.0, SAYS, IT’S A MEANS TO FOSTER MUSLIMS’ UNITY ~Ajasa-Info

All praise and adorations are due to almighty Allah, the Lord of the universe, the one who sent His holy book through the holy prophet as guidance to all mankind. May His endless bounties be showered on the soul of the best of mankind prophet Muhammad, his households, companions and all Muslims who thread the path of Islam till eternity.

Ikorodu Recite project is an initiative of Ikorodu Central mosque youth under the auspices of the Grand Chief Imaam of Ikorodu Division, His Eminence, Sheikh Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowooribi. This project was borne out of the fact that there’s a need to resuscitate the enthusiasm of learning the Qur’an by encouraging young ones who took their time to memorise it, this we believe will encourage others to memorise it.

Gone are the days in Ikorodu division, where students of various Arabic schools compete in sonorous voices, reciting the Qur’an thereby creating enthusiasm in the young ones to learn how to read the Qur’an. But now, most young ones are distracted and many are neither ready to learn nor memorise the Qur’an. This we sought to rejuvenate.

Although, it is not enough to memorise it, but to also understand its content and practise it throughout our lifetime. Allah says: “We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss. (Quran 17:82)” To achieve this we’ve highlighted competent and renowned scholars to enlighten us on the Grand finale day.

It is so sad that the world is in shambles today, and many young people aren’t ready to learn the word of Allah, they’re not found in Arabic schools, many of them drop out of secondary schools, many turn to louts thereby increasing crime rate in the society. However, we’re being inspired by the verse of Allah which says: “Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity. (Qur’an 3: 104)” With #IkoroduRecite, we hope many will remember Allah and turn back to Him.

Furthermore, the Qur’an, being the focal point of Muslims across the globe, this project is aimed at contributing our quota to strengthening the unity of Muslims in Ikorodu division. We’ve invited all schools, madrasah and individuals irrespective of their affiliations across Ikorodu division to participate in the competition.
Allah (SWT) says:
“And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah’s favour on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided. (Quran 3: 103)”

The Ikorodu Recite 1.0 shall be held in honor of Late Alh. Chief Abu Bakr Akinpelu (Abel Abu) who was until his death, the Aare Adinni Of Ikorodu Central Mosque as well as Baba Janmah of Ikorodu division, the position which he earned due to his immense contribution to the growth of Islaam and dawah in Ikorodu division. We want to use this medium to appreciate his family for welcoming us and accepting the proposal to host the program, may Almighty Allah continue to shower His mercies on Baba Abel Abu, may He grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

“Today, we’re here to unveil our plans as well as conclude certain points with the family which we’re glad that it’s successful. Part of which is the prizes to be won by the winners of the competition. In shã Allah, the winners shall be going home with prizes worth ₦250,000 while first and second runners-up will be awarded prizes worth ₦200,000 and ₦150,000 respectively for both categories.”

The competition is scheduled to hold as follows:

Preliminary: Saturday, February 12th, 2022.

Semifinal: Saturday, February 26th, 2022

Final: Saturday, March 19th, 2022.

Category A: Juz Ama (Age 5 – 15)
Category B: Juz Mujadilah (Age 16 – 25)
The form is free and the deadline for registration is 5th February 2022.

“While we pray to Allah to spare our lives beyond then and make the project successful, we call on all and sundry to continue to support us with your prayers as well as grace the occasion most especially the Grand finale coming up on 19th March 2022 at Eid praying ground, Ota ona, Ikorodu, Lagos State.”

“May Allah bless us with the blessing of the Qur’an and make us part of its companions on the day of judgement. May He make it evidence for us and not against us. Aamin.”
