The immediate past President of the National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS National), Comrade Ogunbowale Olatayo Bodunrin (GMNSE), has bowed out of office after completing a tenure marked by extensive reforms, student empowerment initiatives, and institutional growth, leaving behind a 90,000-watt Public Address System and a record of 40 landmark achievements.
Bodunrin highlighted the accomplishments of his administration during the 7th Inauguration and Swearing-in Ceremony of the newly elected Executive and Parliamentarian Council, where leadership was formally transferred to a new administration. According to him, the New Vision Agenda Team successfully executed 12 major programmes and activities aimed at advancing education, leadership development, community engagement, and the overall welfare of students across Ikorodu Division.
Among the administration’s major achievements was the introduction of the NAIDS National Executive Tour, which enabled the leadership to engage royal fathers, political office holders, corporate organizations, and key stakeholders across Ikorodu Division. The administration also facilitated over 170 JAMB forms for students and encouraged participation in the Alogba Library CBT training programme.
In a bid to deepen educational awareness, the administration introduced a comprehensive School Outreach Programme, reaching more than 12,000 students across six senior secondary schools through enlightenment sessions on education, leadership, career development, and personal growth. It also organized the maiden Ikorodu Division Students’ Fair and Summit, attracting over 500 tertiary institution students from within and outside Ikorodu Division.
The Bodunrin-led administration successfully organized NAIDS National Week 3.0, which featured free medical outreach services, health enlightenment programmes, visits to the Rehabilitation and Care Training Centre in Owutu, gift-sharing activities, and an Award and Dinner Night celebrating the contributions of past and present leaders of the association.
The administration also introduced the first-ever Executive and Parliament Strategic Retreat and Workshop, launched Business Pitch and Idea Pitch initiatives to encourage entrepreneurship among students, institutionalized NAIDS chapters in tertiary institutions such as UNILAG and LASUED, and rolled out the Students Food Support Initiative (SFSI 1.0).
To strengthen organizational structures, the administration established partnerships with iCare Foundation, ATLAS Foundation, and Chiyowo Foundation, introduced membership identification cards, reformed the dues payment structure, and institutionalized stakeholder engagement through birthday greetings and monthly appreciation messages.
Bodunrin further noted that his administration expanded the visibility of NAIDS National through strategic branding, introduced Presidential Monthly Motivation Messages, intensified advocacy for a permanent secretariat, and established membership enrollment and data collection systems. It also facilitated bursaries for students’ unions across local government and LCDA areas, rejuvenated struggling students’ unions, and introduced commemorative graphics for special occasions.
One of the most significant legacies of the administration was the purchase of a 90,000W Public Address System for the association. The administration also created the official NAIDS National WhatsApp Channel and Facebook Page, significantly increasing the association’s online visibility and engagement.
In addition, the administration facilitated access to IDIPL bursaries and scholarship opportunities, promoted Lagos State scholarship programmes, partnered with Green Janitor for World Clean-Up Day activities, conducted graduate data collection exercises, and secured first-ever media coverage for NAIDS National programmes on Lagos Television (LTV 8), Vanguard Newspaper, and YouTube platforms.
The administration celebrated the 10th Anniversary of NAIDS National, assisted students in securing admission opportunities into tertiary institutions across Lagos State, partnered with the Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board, distributed over 600 educational materials and 300 sanitary pads, introduced programme magazines, and strengthened relationships with political office holders and stakeholders across Ikorodu Division.
Bodunrin stated that these achievements significantly improved the visibility and recognition of NAIDS National and contributed to the association’s inclusion in the Ikorodu Division United for 2027 Rally held in recognition of the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reflecting on his tenure, the immediate past president attributed the successes recorded by the administration to teamwork, commitment, and the support of stakeholders, sponsors, traditional rulers, political office holders, past leaders, executives, parliamentarians, students’ unions, institutional chapters, and members of the association.
He expressed appreciation to members of his executive council, the 6th Parliament Council led by Senate President Senator Sadiku Fawas, programme committees, students’ unions, institutional chapters, family members, and numerous supporters who contributed to the success of the administration.
Bodunrin also congratulated the newly inaugurated President of NAIDS National, Comrade Awolesi Ekundayo Idowu, and the new Senate President, Senator Balogun Lateef, urging them to build on existing achievements and continue prioritizing service, accountability, and the welfare of students.
He emphasized that while administrations may come and go, the vision and mission of NAIDS National must remain steadfast, charging the new leadership to continue advancing the association and placing the interests of students at the center of its activities.
