Every enduring democracy requires meaningful youth participation, because youth have a lot to offer their Communities, States and Nations.

Their involvement in democracy at all levels gives them the sense of belonging which promotes active citizenship, strengthens social responsibility thereby enriching the democratic processes and institutions.

More so, the young citizens of today are the leaders and decision-makers of tomorrow. Where and when youth are engaged in democracy, better political decision and actions are facilitated, understanding of democracy and action are strengthened, peace and conflict resolution are attained because young people can build bridges across communities.

According to the words of Koffi Annan, a former Secretary General of United Nations “Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation.
When empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace.

It is on this premise that the EKO YOUTH STAKEHOLDERS intends to organize a one-day symposium with the theme: “Nigeria Democracy: Youth On Call” in commemoration of the second administration year of Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Nigeria Democracy Day on Saturday 12 June, 2021 at the Indoor Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
