In a major step toward expanding access to quality healthcare at the grassroots, the Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, successfully launched the Free Optimal Wellness Outreach Programme, providing comprehensive healthcare services to over 1,000 residents in Zone 1 of the LCDA.
The medical outreach, held at AUD Primary School, Igbogbo, delivered a wide range of free healthcare services to residents, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to prioritising health, wellbeing, and dignity under the healthcare pillar of the HOA GLORY Agenda.
The programme featured preventive, diagnostic, and treatment-based services aimed at addressing key health challenges within the community. Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, blood pressure checks, blood sugar screening, Hepatitis B testing, comprehensive eye examinations, and free prescription eyeglasses for eligible residents.
Others services included family planning counselling, free distribution of prescribed medications, referral support for patients requiring specialist care, and health education sessions focused on preventive healthcare and healthy living.
Residents, particularly elderly persons and vulnerable households, expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely, impactful, and life-changing. Many left the venue with medications, eyeglasses, and renewed confidence in their health status.
Community leaders and stakeholders who observed the exercise commended the initiative, describing it as a practical intervention that directly addresses healthcare needs at the grassroots level.
Speaking during the outreach, the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, said the wellbeing of residents remains central to his administration’s vision.
“The health, wellbeing, and happiness of our people remain central to this administration’s vision. This outreach is not a symbolic gesture; it reflects our commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare becomes more accessible to every resident, regardless of financial status or location,” he said.
He added that the initiative would be sustained and expanded across other communities within the LCDA.
“This is only the beginning. Under the HOA GLORY Agenda, we will continue to take meaningful healthcare interventions directly to the people, zone by zone and community by community,” he added.
Following the success of the programme in Zone 1, the LCDA confirmed plans to extend the Free Optimal Wellness Outreach to additional communities in the coming weeks as part of its broader healthcare delivery strategy.
The Supervisor for Health, Patricia Okosodo, who oversaw the project, also expressed appreciation to the Chairman for the initiative, while commending the medical team and stakeholders for their support in ensuring its success.
The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, community-based healthcare delivery, and improved quality of life for residents.
