Hon. Ramotalai Olanrewaju Akinlola-Hassan has officially declared her intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The declaration was marked by a large-scale “RAH for Renewed Hope Fitness Walk,” which drew thousands of residents, supporters, and political stakeholders. The walk began from the Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat in Satellite Town and terminated in Festac, reflecting a strong display of unity, energy, and grassroots mobilisation.
Participants used the occasion to express support for healthy living, political participation, and continued backing for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside Akinlola-Hassan’s aspiration to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
Addressing supporters, Akinlola-Hassan commended President Tinubu and the National Assembly for adopting direct primaries, describing it as a democratic process that allows aspirants to genuinely test their popularity.
She also called on political leaders within Amuwo-Odofin to ensure fairness and allow the electorate to freely choose their representative, stressing that only a popular candidate can secure victory at the polls.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Patrick Bawa, a community leader, said although he rarely engages in partisan politics, Akinlola-Hassan’s track record made her deserving of support.
He highlighted her experience as a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and a two-term local government chairman, describing her as competent and well-prepared for higher legislative responsibility.
Also present was Prophet Ojo Omoniyi, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oriade LCDA. He stated that he and members of his association attended the event because of Akinlola-Hassan’s pedigree and longstanding record of public service.
According to him, her experience and leadership capacity distinguish her as a credible candidate for the Green Chamber, adding that her years of service have earned her respect across religious and community lines.
The fitness walk ended with renewed calls for unity, participation, and continued engagement in the democratic process across Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency.
