These students hail from top institutions, including University of Ibadan, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Elizade University, Ambrose Alli University, University of Lagos and Lagos State University. This initiative demonstrates Rep. Benson’s commitment to empowering the youth and promoting educational advancment in Ikorodu Federal constituency.

According to Rep. Benson, the initiative aims to reduce financial constraints faced by law graduates when transitioning to law school, thereby enabling them to focus on their studies and succeed in their future careers.

“The financial support is designed to provide relief to our future legal practitioners, ensuring they have the necessary financial backing to excel,” Rep. Benson stated.

He further expressed his hope that the beneficiaries will give back to the community, contributing to the development of Ikorodu and strengthening its legal framework.

Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Director General of iCare Foundation, explained that the initiative was born out of the realization that many law graduates face financial difficulties when transitioning to law school. He noted that over the years, students have approached Rep. Benson’s office seeking financial assistance for transportation, accommodation, and other expenses.

He narrated that a young graduate brought to their attention the fact that many students struggle to afford law school, often leading to deferred admissions. This prompted Rep. Benson to launch an open application process for law graduates residing in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

He emphasized that 30 applicants were selected to receive the financial support, which aims to alleviate their financial burdens and enable them to focus on their studies. He stressed that the grant is a one-off initiative that will be sustainable, and it is open to all residents of Ikorodu, regardless of their background or faith.

He further stressed that Rep. Benson expects the recipients to excel in law school, emphasizing that the grant comes with no conditions except the expectation of academic success. The recipients are free to use the grant as they see fit, with no obligation to repay the amount.

Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya, Builder Olusesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, and other notable figures, including Alhaji Babatunde Rotinwa, Arc Taiwo Kara, and Aremo Adesegun Ogunlewe, urged the students to stay focused and motivated on their path to success.

Akinsanya Tobiloba acknowledged that he was elated and grateful for the support, stating that it’s not every time that a representative would invest in the future of budding lawyers. He described the gesture as almost a miracle, considering the financial burden of attending law school.

Tobiloba further commended Rep. Benson for his commitment to empowering his constituents, particularly the youth. He noted that the lawmaker’s gesture serves as a reminder that once they are established, they must give back to their community.

Abisola also commended Rep. Benson for his timely intervention, noting that the financial assistance will go a long way in supporting her law school education, despite the current economic challenges facing the country. She acknowledged that law school is expensive and that the grant will alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with attending law school.
