Over 2,500 constituents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency have benefited from Rep. Babajimi Benson’s Mega Upliftment Programme, which aims to bring back the dividends of democracy to the people. The programme included the distribution of various items, such as mini buses, tricycles (Marwa), solar powered systems, generators, freezers, gas cylinders, hair dryers, industrial sewing machines, grinding machines, fully equipped Kiosk with goods, vulcanising machines, among others. This empowerment programme is a testament to Rep. Benson’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

Babajimi Benson, acknowledged that Ikorodu has been a stronghold of progressive parties, consistently delivering impressive results in elections. In the last election, Ikorodu came first in the presidential election and also topped the gubernatorial election among the 20 local governments in the state.

He also commended President Tinubu for his efforts in promoting the welfare of Nigerians. A tax bill currently before the Parliament exempts people who earn 800,000 Naira a year from paying tax. Prior to this bill, they paid 15% tax.

The Chairman House Committee on Defense, explained that the tax bill aims to promote small and medium-scale businesses, energize the economy, and encourage entrepreneurship. It also seeks to consolidate all taxes, eliminating the current system where states and local governments collect different types of taxes.

He stated that once the tax bill is passed, taxes will be collected and distributed within the tiers of government, promoting ease of business. This development is expected to have a positive impact on the economy, and Nigeria is poised to earn the eminence that its good qualities offer from 2025.

Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has commended Rep. Babajimi Benson for his numerous empowerment programs in Ikorodu Federal Constituency. This is the third term Ojelabi has witnessed Benson’s tremendous projects, and he appreciated him on behalf of the party in Lagos State.

Ojelabi praised the people of Ikorodu for their consistent support for the APC, saying they have done well and believed in the leadership of the party. He encouraged them to continue their good work.

According to Ojelabi, Benson has gathered experience and has a track record of giving back to his constituents. He said this is in line with the promise made by the APC to support the people of Nigeria. Ojelabi also commended Benson for his social development initiatives, urging the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment provided.

Ojelabi concluded by saying that the APC’s reforms will begin to manifest by 2025, and the people will see the dividends of these reforms.

Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun described the empowerment program as massive and beneficial to the people. He recounted the significant contribution of Ikorodu Division during the previous election and urged residents to increase their votes in the next election to ensure the Government is aware of the division’s population for more dividends of democracy.

Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, commended Rep. Babajimi Benson for his outstanding performance as a legislator. Speaking at an empowerment program in Ikorodu, Okoya-Thomas praised Benson for carrying himself well on the floor of the house and for feeding his people back through various projects ¹.

Okoya-Thomas, who has been a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment program to use the items given to them wisely and to lift up other women in their community. She also commended Benson for his efforts in promoting the welfare of his constituents, particularly in the area of taxation.

Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe praised Rep. Benson for being an outstanding representative who is truly representing the people’s interests. He urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items provided, as they will help alleviate poverty in the community.

Hon. Bayo Balogun described Rep. Benson as an outstanding colleague who stands tall during plenary sessions of the house. He also emphasized that the empowerment program is not a one-off event, but rather a long-term initiative that will enable beneficiaries to make a living from it.

Ms Ruth Olusanya, Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State, stated they will be increase of food supply in Ikorodu Division and Lagos State.

Mutiat Adeyemi, a resident of Imota, has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Rep. Babajimi Benson for the empowerment programme that has transformed her daughter’s life. Adeyemi’s daughter had completed her training over two years ago but lacked the necessary equipment to complete her freedom presentation.
