
In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club distributed 500 sanitary pads to young girls in Ikorodu on October 17th, 2024.
The club visited United Junior High School and United Senior High School, distributing 200 pads to each school. An additional 100 pads were given to young girls on the street. This initiative was sponsored by Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
During his address to the female students, Leo Abdulrahaman Ajasa, President of Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club, emphasized the club’s commitment to supporting young girls. “For three consecutive years, we have provided sanitary pads to secondary school students in Ikorodu, recognizing the difficulties they face in accessing these essential items,” he said.

Ajasa highlighted Lions International’s mission and vision of giving back to the community. He encouraged the students to follow in the club’s footsteps and give back to society in the future. He also acknowledged Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba, the youngest female chairman in Lagos, as the sponsor of the project, inspiring the girls with her achievement.
To promote menstrual health and hygiene, Leo Atunrase Toyosi and Leo Keji Lawal educated the girls on proper pad usage and importance. Other Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club members participated in the sensitization program.
This initiative empowers young girls, promoting dignity, education, and menstrual health. The Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club remains dedicated to addressing local needs and supporting youth development.
