… Jimi Benson’s Representation Yielding Results – Hamzat

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has assured residents of Ikorodu and Lambo Lasuwon that their pleas for infrastructure development will be heard. During the commissioning of the 1.6-kilometer Lambo Lasuwon road facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson, community leaders presented their concerns.
Mr. Sunday Olusanya, Joint CDA Chairman of First Gate, and Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, CDC Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, extended appreciation to Rep. Babajimi Benson for always having the people at heart, stressed the need for a secondary school in the area. Currently, children walk miles and cross the express to access secondary education, with an acre of land available for this purpose.
Additionally, Prince Ogunbanwo appreciated the Lagos State Government’s upgrade of LASUSTECH but emphasized the need for a polytechnic in Ikorodu. He also requested a pedestrian bridge in front of the LASUSTECH school, to ensure students’ and children’s safety.
Dr. Hamzat promised to present these requests at the State Executive meeting, urging Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje to take note.
He acknowledged the community’s good representation at the House of Representatives in the person of Jimi Benson. He praised the APC for recognizing the representative’s efforts and understanding his role.
Hamzat also addressed the community’s request for a pedestrian bridge, assuring them that it has been noted and will be presented at the State Executive meeting.
Builder Deola Banjo, The Executive Chairman Ikorodu North LCDA expressed gratitude to Rep. Babajimi Benson, known as “the Julius Berger of Ikorodu,” for his unwavering commitment to transforming the road. This development has brought lasting relief to residents who endured decades of struggles with the untarred road, particularly during rainy seasons.
The Chairman highlighted Rep. Benson’s dedication as a shining example of leadership that delivers real results, embodying hope and progress for Ikorodu North LCDA. He emphasized the road’s potential to ease traffic between First Gate axis and Agric, but stressed the need for a bridge connecting Ori Okuta to Agric to unlock this potential.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman urged the community to pray for Rep. Benson and his family, acknowledging his selfless service. He also extended prayers to leaders at state and national levels, emphasizing the collective effort toward sustainable development.
The Eweye of Isiwu, Oba David Olukayode Raji, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Rep. Jimi Benson for transforming the community’s road network. This development has brought relief to residents who endured years of hardship due to poor road conditions.
The monarch noted that the improved infrastructure has eased the daily struggles of residents, while acknowledging Benson’s achievement, Oba Raji hinted Ikorodu North desire for continued development.
Comrade Alimi Lekan, Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC), Lagos Axis, commended Rep. Babajimi Benson for the newly commissioned Lambo Lasunwon Road. However, he also drew attention to pressing concerns affecting students at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
He highlighted the alarming increase in housing costs and electricity tariffs, which he described as unsustainable for students. He appealed to government officials and landlords to intervene and provide relief.
Rep. Babajimi Benson, member House of Representatives, Ikorodu federal constituency reassured the students of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) that their concerns will be addressed. He unveiled a plan to introduce solar-powered mini-grids for educational institutions, significantly reducing electricity costs.
This initiative is expected to lower electricity expenses for students by two-thirds. Lastly, he pledged to discussed further with landlords to ensure affordable rent prices as the area grows.
