
Rep. Babajimi Benson, member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu federal constituency, has commissioned a state-of-the-art Legislative and Administrative building in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, which is named after Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, a Member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Lagos State.
The edifice, ‘Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun House’, was constructed by the led Administration of Builder Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
In his keynote address, Rep. Babajimi Benson emphasized the crucial role of a vibrant legislative chamber in driving development and progress. He noted that the new building will provide a conducive environment for councillors to effectively carry out their mandates of legislation, representation, and oversight.
He urged the councillors to assert their authority and utilize the chamber to address the needs of the people, promote inclusivity, and foster economic and community engagement.
Rep. Benson commended Builder Daini’s administration for prioritizing the establishment of the legislative chamber, demonstrating a commitment to democratic principles.
He highlighted his own achievements in sponsoring five bills that have been passed into law by the President, and expressed confidence that the councillors will similarly make valuable contributions to the security and welfare of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
The commissioned building is expected to serve as a catalyst for robust debates, passing resolutions, and making vital decisions that will propel the community to new heights. Rep. Benson congratulated the councillors and urged them to persevere and support the government’s economic reforms towards a better Nigeria.
As the community celebrates this achievement, Rep. Benson reminded them that their work is far from over. He emphasized the need for continued hard work and dedication to achieving greater heights. The reward for hard work, he noted, is more work.
Builder Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA in his speech, expressed pride in the project’s completion, emphasizing its significance as a testament to their commitment to serving the community.
He highlighted the building’s features, including a 54-seater chamber, offices for councilors and department heads, workstation spaces, modern toilets, and air-conditioned facilities, all fully furnished to ensure excellence in governance.
As the administration rounds up its second term in office, Daini noted that this project stands as one of its legacy achievements, demonstrating their dedication to improving citizens’ lives. He extended gratitude to everyone involved in the project, from conception to completion, acknowledging their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
Builder Daini urged stakeholders to continue working together, utilizing the building as a catalyst for progress, innovation, and growth. The commissioned building symbolizes the administration’s unwavering commitment to serving the people and sets a new standard for effective Governance and service delivery in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, commended Builder Olusesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, for his outstanding achievements and commitment to the party’s progressive ideals.
Pastor Ojelabi described the event as a historic occasion, highlighting the benefits of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created during President Bola Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State Governor.
Ojelabi praised Builder Daini’s efforts, stating, “We can see the tremendous efforts of LCDAs in Lagos State. I want to thank my dear brother Builder Olusesan Daini for projecting the image of our party, standing by its philosophy, and believing in the progressive ideas of the APC.”
He specifically commended Daini’s initiative in establishing a joint task force to complement the efforts of federal and state governments in ensuring security. “Knowing fully aware that the primary responsibility of any government is security, he mooted the idea of having a joint task force.”
Ojelabi noted that Daini’s achievements demonstrate his ability to deliver dividends of democracy at the grassroots level. “Whoever serves local government diligently and is not rewarded with higher responsibility needs to examine themselves.”
With the local government elections approaching, Ojelabi assured that the party will conduct free and fair primary elections. “We will not impose any candidate; the leadership of the party will work with the people to ensure the best candidates emerge.”
He also referenced the recent Supreme Court judgment, emphasizing the need for proper bookkeeping and responsible leadership. “We know who we want to throw a lot of responsibility at, and our counselors will be expected to discharge their duties to the best of their abilities.”
Ojelabi announced that a committee will be set up to assess the performance of local government Chairmen across the three senatorial districts, commencing by the end of the month.
In conclusion, Pastor Ojelabi congratulated the people of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, the leadership, and management on the commissioning of the legislative and administrative building, praising Builder Daini’s visionary leadership.
Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, Member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Lagos State, applauded Builder Daini for always making them proud, saying, “He’s a good listener and has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the development of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.”
Bashorun urged the councillors to perform their duties responsibly, now that they have a conducive environment to carry out their legislative duties. He emphasized the importance of their role in the local government and encouraged them to work diligently.
Hon. Mojisola Meranda, Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Congratulated Builder Daini and the people of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, noting the significant transformation in the local government over the years. “I can remember a few years ago, when I stepped into this local government, it was not like this, but look at the transformation today. Builder Daini, you have done well, and definitely, I believe posterity will judge you at the end of your tenure.”
Meranda emphasized the importance of the legislative arm in a democracy, stating, “Everybody knows that the engine room of any democracy is the lawmakers. Without the lawmakers, there’s no democracy.” She praised Builder Daini for providing a conducive working environment for the legislators, saying, “He has really done well.”
Meranda encouraged the councillors who will be using the building to perform their duties diligently, saying, “I also believe the councillors that will be using this building will also do what is right and perform their duties for the betterment of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.”
Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom praised Builder Daini’s exceptional leadership, stating, “Daini has been doing well since he assumed office.” He specifically highlighted the newly commissioned legislative and administrative building as a “laudable achievement” that demonstrates Daini’s commitment to development.
The monarch expressed pride in Builder Daini’s accomplishments, saying, “We are proud of you.” Oba Kasali encouraged Daini to continue delivering impactful projects, urging him to “continue to do more” for the benefit of the people.
Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Member GAC Lagos State, commended Builder Olusesan Daini, for his laudable project, the newly commissioned legislative and administrative building.
However, the Senator also urged Builder Daini to do more for the people, emphasizing the need for continued developmental efforts to improve the lives of residents.
The Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Kamal Bayewu, commended the Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Daini, for his remarkable achievements in the local government.
Bayewu noted that he has witnessed the transformation of the local government, saying, “I have seen this local government before, and I am seeing it now, and I can see what Daini is doing.”
Bayewu highlighted Daini’s efforts in the health sector, stating that he knows people who have benefited from his initiatives. He also praised the local government’s exceptional performance in grassroots revenue mobilization, which has increased from three million to 69 million and is projected to reach 100 million.
The Chairman emphasized the significance of the LCDA’s existence, saying, “Imagine if this LCDA was not existing, what would have happened?”
Bayewu described the LCDA’s accomplishments as unprecedented, saying, “This is three in one in this local government.” He commended Daini’s efforts, wishing him well and hoping that his endeavors will be fulfilled.
Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Rural Development, Lagos State, described the building as an “architectural masterpiece” and “edifice” that could not have come at a better time, with the recent finalization of local government autonomy.
She noted that it will foster greater collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government, serving as a center of innovation, progress, and growth.
She applauded Builder Daini for his vision and financing of the project without loans, completing it in record time. Bolarinwa expressed pride in Daini’s achievements, stating, “You have not disappointed us once before. You have always been supportive, keying into the work of delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots and beyond.”
Bolarinwa also acknowledged Daini’s role as a think tank member for Conference 57, praising his contributions.
Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola, Hon. Orenuga Taiwo, and Comr. Asoro Abubakri, Vice Chairman, NYCN Lagos East, all applauded Builder Olusesan Daini, tremendous achievements in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
Hon. Nurudeen Alimi, Council Leader Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Legislative Arm, specifically thanked Builder Daini for the “wonderful architectural edifice” built for the Legislative Arm. Alimi noted that the new building will provide a conducive environment for lawmakers to perform their duties effectively.
