
Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives, Ikorodu Federal Constituency, partnered with the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) on six-weeks intensive youths training.
This year’s training program saw a total of 57 beneficiaries, with 36 of them hailing from Ikorodu federal constituency. Additionally, three beneficiaries were selected from Headquarters 81 Division, three from the Western Naval Command, four from the Logistics Command, and 11 from the NAFRC Community.
The Vocational skills include; Information and Communication, Barbing, Hairdressing, Leather
Technology, Tailoring, Works, Photography and bakery, others are Catering, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting and Agriculture.
Rep. Babajimi Benson, the Chairman House Committee on Defense represented by Mr. Aregbesola Rasheed, highlighted the longstanding partnership between iCare Foundation and NAFRC
In his speech, He emphasized the commitment of their office to equipping individuals across Lagos State with the necessary skills for success. This partnership marks the fourth time that they have collaborated with the NAFRC, and the positive impact of previous trainings serves as a testament to its effectiveness.
He expressed his confidence in the program’s ability to provide participants with the knowledge and resources needed to excel in their chosen fields. Following the completion of the training, their office maintains continuous communication with the beneficiaries, offering support and guidance to ensure they make the most of their newfound skills.
Furthermore, he stated they actively monitor the progress of the beneficiaries, encouraging their engagement in various business and development opportunities.
Air Vice Marshall AH Amesinlola, represented by the esteemed E.A Anaryu, Deputy Commandant of the Armed Forces Resettlement Center, he said “The Armed Forces Resettlement Center is renowned for its comprehensive training programs.
He encouraged the participants to make use of what they have learnt at the centre, as this kind of training is rare to find it for free in our society, he urged them to start up their business with the skills they have learnt so far.
Brigadier General I.O Olatunji, the Director of Training, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the youths who participated in the training.
He said, the training organized by the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) and iCare Foundation, is dedicated to providing entrepreneurship courses and skill acquisition programs for armed forces personnel. As part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities, the Centre extends vocational and skill training to members of the civil populace, barrack youths, widows, and orphans of deceased personnel.
He added “In the first training cycle of this year, the Centre, in conjunction with the iCare Foundation, under the patronage of Rep. Babajimi Benson, OFR, Member of the House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, presented a special six-week vocational training program. It was free of charge This incredible initiative aimed to empower and equip 65 youths with the skills they need to succeed.”
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Aregbesola Olanrewaju expressed gratitude for the invaluable skill acquisition program that has positively impacted their lives. The Nigeria Armed Forces Resettlement Center has played a pivotal role in providing unwavering support, meticulous planning, and tireless efforts to ensure the success of this initiative.
The participants are profoundly appreciative of the center’s commitment to empowering them with essential skills that will enable them to create a brighter future. With heartfelt thanks, they acknowledged the efforts of Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson and iCare Foundation for spearheading this laudable program, specifically designed to make a lasting impact on the youth of Lagos State, and Ikorodu.
