SSC shares vision for a greater Lagos Scouts , calls for inclusion as Chief Tawose, Kusimo laud Lagos for transformative leadership

The Lagos State Scout Council has organized its annual end of the year party for Leaders
and Scouts in the State. The annual event which is used to celebrate the end of the last quarter also comes with reward for Scouts who made remarkable impact through out the year.

With a unique empowerment initiative sponsored by the State Council in partnership with Toybesh International , the Council hosted this year’s celebration with over 130 young and adult Scouts among whom were empowered following their applications for the support initiative of the Council .
The empowerment scheme which was designed to support aspiring Scouts with enterprising skills in order to maximize their potentials and boost job creation saw nearly one million naira in private- voluntary funding , influenced by the State to support various innovations in Digital technology , textile valuation, foot apparels production and other small businesses start ups.

Speaking during the unveiling of the empowerment initiative , the State Scout Commissioner, Alhaji Olohuntoyin Adebeshin noted that the initiative was part of his administration’s efforts to support the most vulnerable in the Council through job creation and provision of a sustainable support mechanism .

He added that the initiative would create a pathway for young Scouts to harness the opportunities in their areas of skills and knowledge to advance their livelihoods and attain sustainable social economic wellbeing.

Adebeshin was quoted that addressing youth development challenges within the circular economy was vital to building a sustainable system in the Scouting Movement.

He called for more support to the underrepresented within the Movement whilst restating the commitment of the Council to the betterment of its members through various welfare initiatives.

Speaking also during the ceremony , a one time State Scout Commissioner and the immediate past Assistant Chief Commissioner for the South West Zone , Chief J.O Tawose commended the Council’s leadership describing the recents development in the state as unprecedented and transformational. Chief Tawose who expressed satisfaction with the performance of his Succesor urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment to put to best use, the opportunities as Scouts . He encouraged Scouts who were given Working tools to seek insurance for the equipment in order to keep their bussineses sustainable.

The end of the year party also featured several other activities such as music , gift and prizes for some of the outstanding officials including other random rewards for Scouts.

Reacting to the development , a former Assistant Chief Commissioner , Chief Adewuyi Kusimo commended the Council describing the progress as a major milestone in the history of the Association. He called on other State Councils to emulate Lagos in their pursuits of quality Scouting delivery .

Discussing his vision for the Council for next year, the State Scout Commissioner, Alhaji Olohuntoyin Adebeshin disclosed key priority areas including announcing some immediate reforms and appointments of new Executives to ensure quality services.

He continued adding that WOSM’s vision 2023 was a responsibility for we all with Lagos taking the biggest market share in the prospective membership growth index .He stressed the need to increase Scouts Visibility in the State through improved grassroots engagement. The SSC enjoined all Leaders to participate in events that would expand membership base accross the State.

He commended the National Leadership for appointing some of the State officers into critical areas of responsibility in the country , assuring that the appointments would form the basis for a robust framework capable of achieving the vision of the Movement.
