
The recently announced AgboyiKetu LG election results have plunged pundits into the pools of relative comparison between former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola and Mayor Dele Osinowo. Recall, Gov Fashola had in 2007 Gubernatorial election polled a total votes of 599,300 votes to beat his closest rival, Musiliu Obanikoro of the PDP who polled 383,956 votes.
BRF became the Governor and earnestly get started with work to convince Lagosians he was capable of delivering the goodies of democracy. Four years after, Fashola had made way into the hearts of Lagosians, reflective in the 2011 elections where the notable lawyer polled 1,509,113 votes to defeat Shamsideen Adegboye of the PDP. Statistically, Fashola tripled his electoral value in the space of fours.
In the same vein, Mayor Dele Osinowo contested the chairmanship seat of Agboyi-Ketu in 2017. The results of that polls as declared by LASIEC, Mayor Dele Osinowo polled about 10,000 votes to defeat his major contender, candidate of the PDP. Four years after, the chairman’s electoral value has geometrically increased, reflective in the just announced results where he polled a total of 26, 771 to defeat Dahunsi Oluwole candidate of the PDP, who had a paltry 2,749 votes.
Statistically, this is about triple the results he polled four years ago. However, profession seems to be the distinctive difference between the two characters. Whilst, the former governor is a Lawyer, Mayor Dele Osinowo is a seasoned administrator. The nexus between them is the desire to deliver the goodies of democracy to the populace. Congrats to the people’s Mayor.
