FALSE STORY: FALEKE WRITES DAILY INDEPENDENT, DEMANDS APOLOGY ~Ajasa-Info

As a follow up to a false publication by Daily Independent on their online platform on 23rd June, the House of Representatives Member representing Ikeja Federal Consistency, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke has officially demanded a retraction and an apology from the media firm.

The demands of the lawmaker were conveyed in a letter written by his legal representatives, Lords & Temple and delivered to the ACME office of Daily independent on Thursday 24th of June under his instructions.

The news item by the media outfit which is in relation to the recently conducted primaries of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) for aspirants of Local government elections in Lagos state, claims that Hon. Faleke had insulted the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and some party leaders.

However, in the letter-a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent-, Hon. Faleke described the publication as false, without factual basis, and malicious in all material aspect.

He further noted that the story was a deliberate attempt sponsored and designed to malign his image, political stature and cause rancor between him (Faleke) and the national leader of the APC whom he holds in great esteem, as well as other leaders of the party in the state.

The letter emphasized that the two-term Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area is a thoroughbred and loyal party stalwart and a political son of the Asiwaju Tinubu and at such will never make disparaging comments about his political godfather nor anyone for that matter.

As a result, Hon Faleke has demanded a retraction of the said publication within 48 hours and an apology to b epublished in two major newspapers and several online news outlets not later than 14 days of receipt of the letter as well as a payment of N3 Billion as damages.

Representative of Lords & Temple, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), who signed the letter on behalf of the law outfit warned that failure of the Daily Independent to do as demanded may constrain Hon. Faleke to “proceed to the court of law against the media organization for exemplary damages for injurious falsehood and malicious publication”
