It is no longer news that the Ikorodu/ Shagamu road has been a death pit to its residents and commuters.
The recent increase in nos of accidents and death has pushed the commuters to stage a fierce protest this morning.
In 2018, the minister for works and housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola was present at the flag-off ceremony of this road, he made promises that the construction would kick off with immediate effect.
As against our expectations, the commencement started after some months and continued for about 6months. Since 2018, the road condition is not something to talk about.
From the day to day accidents to increase in number of deaths and lost of goods and products.
The government’s attention has been called to this issues several times with them turning deaf ears to the cries of the residents and commuters.
Several complaints have been made to the ministry, radio stations have also made lots of efforts but nothing has been done to the development of this road most especially the Lagos State Polytechnic- Sawmill axis.
All these has been bottled in and accepted by the commuters until today that they have decided to keep quiet no more. They have poured to the road to show their anger and grievances by blocking the road.
