The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area, Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, has commenced this month’s door-to-door food palliative distribution for widows, elderly residents, and vulnerable households across the council area.
The outreach programme began with beneficiaries in communities such as Ikegun, Idotun, Itokin, and parts of Lekki receiving food support as part of the first phase of the distribution exercise.
According to the council chairman, the initiative was designed to ensure that vulnerable residents receive support directly within their communities without the stress of travelling long distances or gathering in crowded locations.
The distribution team moved from house to house, delivering food items to widows, elderly citizens, and other vulnerable residents, many of whom expressed appreciation for the gesture and described it as timely and thoughtful.
Kasali noted that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to people-centered governance and grassroots welfare, stressing that leadership must remain connected to the needs of the people, especially those facing economic hardship.
He added that the monthly outreach programme would continue across other communities within Lekki LCDA in the coming days until all intended beneficiaries are reached.
Residents who benefitted from the exercise commended the chairman for sustaining the initiative, noting that the programme goes beyond food distribution by showing care, compassion, and support for members of the community.
