The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (RBK), participated in the official flag-off of the Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccine Introduction in Lagos State, held at the Ibeju-Lekki Secretariat, reaffirming the council’s commitment to child and public health.
The flag-off ceremony, which attracted top government officials, health stakeholders, and community leaders, marked a significant milestone in Lagos State’s efforts to strengthen routine immunisation and curb preventable childhood diseases across communities.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Kasali described the protection of children’s health as one of the most critical investments for the future, noting that the introduction of the MR vaccine will help safeguard children against measles and rubella, two highly contagious diseases with long-term health implications.
He commended the Lagos State Government for the initiative and specifically praised the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for her sustained advocacy and support for child and maternal health programmes. The First Lady was represented at the event by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat.
Engr. Kasali further assured residents that Lekki LCDA will continue to support health-focused interventions that promote the wellbeing of children and families, stressing that access to effective immunisation remains key to building healthier and more resilient communities.
