… Distributes ₦10 Million Cash Grants And 100 POS Terminals To Small-Scale Traders In Ifako-Ijaiye As Initial Phase

Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, has launched the UAH Renewed Hope Support Fund—a comprehensive ₦300 million social welfare initiative aimed at empowering small-scale traders, underprivileged individuals, and vulnerable community members throughout the Local Government Area.

At the official launch ceremony conducted on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Secretariat event hall, the Executive Chairman revealed the immediate release of ₦10 million in direct cash payments to 100 recipients, together with the allocation of 100 POS terminals as the opening phase of this empowerment initiative.

Prince Hamzat emphasized that the ₦300 million UAH Renewed Hope Support Fund would be rolled out progressively across a 30-month timeline, guaranteeing long-term impact and allowing more community members to access benefits through subsequent empowerment cycles.

According to Prince Usman Hamzat, “this programme is not an isolated effort; it serves as a direct extension of the foundational Renewed Hope Agenda championed by our Leader, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR). We are delivering the essence of ‘Renewed Hope’ directly to the grassroots level—into the businesses, market stalls, and households of our industrious citizens.”

Throughout this period, a total of 3,000 POS terminals will be allocated to promote financial accessibility, bolster micro-businesses, and enhance revenue opportunities across the seven wards of Ifako-Ijaiye.

“In addition to monetary assistance, we acknowledge that digital transformation is reshaping commerce. To prevent our traders and young business owners from being excluded from the evolving economy, we are implementing the gradual distribution of 3,000 Point of Sale (POS) terminals over the coming 30 months,” Prince Usman declared.

The historic occasion drew numerous distinguished guests, including Vice Chairman Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele; Acting Council Manager Mr. Oladapo Osodipe and other Management officials, Heads of Departments (HODs) and Heads of Units (HOUs); CDC Chairman Pastor Opajobi; members of the Legislative Council; faith-based leaders; community chiefs; market association leaders; and key political figures from Ifako-Ijaiye.

Notable attendees included Otunba Yomi Ogunnusi (Former House of Representatives Member), Hon. Nurudeen Akinwunmi (Former House of Representatives Member), Hon. Akin Fadayomi (Former APC Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye), Deacon Banjo Omole (Chairman, APC Ifako-Ijaiye), Barr. Seni Tobun, and Rotarian Olurotimi Adeleye, among others.

The launch of the UAH Renewed Hope Support Fund represents one of the most extensive community-level empowerment initiatives in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government’s history, demonstrating the Chairman’s steadfast dedication to alleviating poverty, advancing social welfare, and fostering inclusive economic growth.
