
The Legislative Council of Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area received the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill on Monday, 8 December 2025 during a special plenary session held in the Council’s Legislative Chamber. The Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, submitted the document titled Budget of Inclusive Prosperity for legislative consideration.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman stated that the 2026 budget reflects the administration’s commitment to people centered governance, inclusive development, and sustainable community growth. He explained that the proposal captures the priorities and aspirations of residents and consolidates progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental management, youth empowerment, and social welfare.
He added that the budget was structured to promote equitable resource allocation, expand economic participation, and strengthen service delivery capacity, with specific attention to road improvement, primary healthcare enhancement, revenue growth, security, and digital governance.
The Legislature notes that the presentation marks the commencement of the statutory budget process which involves detailed review, analysis, and legislative action. The Council acknowledges that the proposed budget outlines the administration’s policy direction for the 2026 fiscal year and contains provisions across key sectors of governance.
During the plenary session, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Princess Banjoko Basirat Adetutu, reaffirmed the commitment of councillors to conduct a transparent and thorough consideration of the Appropriation Bill. She stated that the Council remains focused on ensuring that allocations align with the needs and priorities of residents and will continue to uphold its oversight mandate in accordance with relevant laws.
The Council acknowledges the presence of party leaders including the Apex Leadership under Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun. The attendance of Obas In Council, community leaders, political office holders, departmental heads, security agencies, and other stakeholders added institutional support to the budget presentation exercise.
The Legislative Council will now proceed to the next stages of scrutiny which include committee level evaluation, stakeholder engagement where required, and final consideration at plenary. The Council remains committed to passing a budget that supports accountability, equitable development, and improved service delivery for all residents of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.
