
In a remarkable show of commitment to community and socio-cultural development, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has supported the Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) for the 2025 Ikorodu-Oga Festival, and also renewed his commitment to the Scholarship endowment, he instituted in memory of his late father, Hon. Justice (Senator) Mubasheer Akanbi Abiru.
The Senator made this known when he hosted the Executive members IKODASS, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola, at his constituency office in Ikorodu. The courtesy visit was part of preparations for the festival scheduled to hold between November 8 and 15, 2025.
At the interactive session, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to education as a tool for empowering young people. He urged IKODASS leadership to invest in sustainable ventures that would yield long-term community benefits.
The Senator also highlighted the groundbreaking SAIL Innovation Lab, in Ipakodo, where hundreds of youths are receiving free training in tech, innovation, and other digital skills. He urged IKODASS to help spread awareness of these opportunities, stressing that investing in human capital development remains his top priority.
In appreciation, IKODASS presented the Senator with symbolic memorabilia, including the Ikorodu Anthem frame, an aerial view portrait, and the official Ankara fabric for the festival, which Senator Abiru bought.
Earlier, Alhaji Olayiwola commended Senator Abiru for his exemplary leadership, impactful interventions across Ikorodu and Lagos East, and his continuous support for IKODASS initiatives. He reeled out the association’s past achievements, including the Elders’ Day celebration, Owambe Stage Play, and community development programs, while unveiling plans for the 2025 festival which will open with the Woro Procession/Fanti Carnival in collaboration with Oshodi Art Gallery.
