
The Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, has unveiled a 50-acre farm land at Ado Odo, Iseyin, in a bid to boost food production and create employment opportunities for residents. The farm land, which will produce crops such as cassava, okra, mango, vegetables, and cashew nuts, is expected to benefit the residents and increase employment opportunities in the LCDA.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Princess Adu expressed her delight in finally realizing her dream of establishing a farm land for the benefit of the residents. She emphasized the importance of the agriculture department and its potential to drive growth and development in the LCDA.
The Special Adviser to the President, Hon. Abiodun Yinusa, represented by Mr. Rafiu Muhammed Lawal, commended the chairman’s initiative, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration supports agricultural development and will provide necessary implements to aid the farm’s growth.
The Council Chairman Elect, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi, also praised the chairman’s initiative, promising to expand and develop the farm land further during her tenure. She assured that her administration would build on the foundation laid by Princess Adu’s administration and take the farm land to the next level.
The Lead Coordinator of Agriculture in South West, Mrs. Temitope Ande, outlined the advantages the farm land will bring to the LCDA, including increased food production and employment opportunities. She reassured the chairman of her support at all times.
Other dignitaries who attended the ceremony include the House Committee Chairman on Agriculture, Hon. Bolaji Madamidola, the Head of Department of Agriculture, Mr. Owodina Y.B, and the Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Henry Igbokwe, among others.
