Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, commissioned a state-of-the-art Primary Health Centre in Ikosi-Isheri, Lagos State, marking a significant milestone in grassroots healthcare delivery, and the biggest in Nigeria. The centre, named in her honour, recognizes her advocacy for women’s health and national development. Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, for her impactful leadership and dedication to the welfare of women, children, and communities.

The First Lady highlighted the importance of the health centre, stating that it provides quality healthcare for mothers, children, the elderly, and vulnerable members of society. The 105-bed facility is equipped with over 25 specialized units, model equipment, dedicated family health units, and a fully functional care and emergency response system. Senator Oluremi Tinubu emphasized that true progress begins when healthcare is treated as a right, not a privilege.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman and the entire Ikosi-Isheri LCDA for the centre, and thanked them for naming it in her honour. She urged stakeholders to take ownership of the centre for current and future generations. The project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing the health and well-being of Nigerians, especially women and children.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed his delight in attending the commissioning ceremony, stating that it was his third time visiting Ikosi-Isheri, and he was impressed by the progress made under Princess Bada’s leadership. He acknowledged the efforts of the market men and women, youth association, and other stakeholders in the community, saying that their hard work and dedication had not gone unnoticed. He noted that the community had every reason to be proud and happy about the development.

The Governor emphasized that the commissioning of the healthcare centre was a testament to the development happening at the grassroots level in Lagos State. He highlighted that the federal government, state government, and local government were all working together to touch the lives of the people. He specifically mentioned that development was happening at the third tier of government, at their local government and LCDAs.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her support and encouragement of the people of Lagos State. He urged the people to come out and vote for Princess Bada and other council chairmen and chairwomen who had demonstrated commitment to delivering development to their communities. He stressed that the upcoming election was a test run for 2027 and an opportunity for the people to show their appreciation for the development initiatives.

The Governor also emphasized that the people should expect more work from their leaders, as the reward for good work is more work. He expressed his pride in the development happening in Lagos State and the impact it was having on the lives of the people. He noted that the development was not just about infrastructure, but about the betterment of the citizens, particularly the indigent and vulnerable members of society.

Earlier in her speech, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, expressed her deep gratitude to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for gracing the occasion with her presence. She described the healthcare centre as a legacy of compassion, competence, and capacity, and acknowledged the influence of Senator Tinubu on her leadership journey.

The healthcare centre features a range of specialized units, including a Mini Theatre, Radiology Room, ICU, and Laboratory, among others. It is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including laser surgery tools, digital monitors, and auto-chemistry analyzers. The facility also boasts a fully air-conditioned Multipurpose Hall for outreach and staff development, running 24/7 with reliable power.

Princess Bada highlighted the administration’s commitment to empowerment and development, citing the implementation of the Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Scheme, which has benefited thousands of residents. She noted that the scheme is a direct reflection of Senator Tinubu’s legacy and a testament to the administration’s commitment to replicating her model.

As the LCDA approaches the July 12 election, Princess Bada urged the people to trust and support the administration to consolidate and continue the great work already begun. She expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to sustain development and serve the people better with their support.

Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly described the project as a legacy project that will provide qualitative healthcare delivery to the people at the grassroots level. He prayed for God’s continued strength and guidance for the Chairman, enabling her to deliver more projects to the people. He also charged the Chairman to continue doing her best, noting that the reward for a good job is more work.

He urged the people of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA to take ownership of the project, ensuring its protection and maintenance so that they can enjoy its benefits for a long time.

Hon. Bisi Yusuf, Director General of Grassroot Mobilization for Tinubu 2027, applauded Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, for delivering the magnificent health centre. He attributed the success of the project to the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who created the additional 37 LCDAs to the existing 20 local governments, leading to enduring development in the area.
