
Alhaji Kolawole Olayiwola Fatai has been sworn in as the new Chairman of the Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), alongside other executives. The inauguration ceremony, which took place yesterday at the Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Townhall, marked the beginning of a new era for IKODASS.
The new chairman highlighted the growing strength of IKODASS, evident in the peaceful conduct of the recent elections. He commended the contestants, particularly those who stepped down, for displaying maturity and commitment to the association’s peace and progress.
Alhaji Fatai outlined his administration’s agenda, encapsulated in the acronym A-R-I-S-E, which stands for Accountability, Repositioning/Rebranding, Innovative Programmes and Initiatives, Socio-cultural Renaissance & Sponsorship, and Education/Economic empowerment. He assured that his team would work diligently to implement these programmes.
Some key initiatives announced include the “Ikorodu Got Talent” competition, a Raffle Draw with a brand new Toyota Camry as the star prize to coincide with the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary celebration, and a schools debate and quiz competition in the local dialect. The administration also plans to expand IKODASS’ reach by opening new chapters in several countries.
The chairman called on the government and corporate organizations to partner with IKODASS in promoting socio-cultural development and boosting the community’s potential. He promised that his administration would deliver on its promises and make the community proud.
Earlier in his valedictory speech, Mr. Rotimi Erogbogbo expressed gratitude to God, his team, member clubs, community leaders, and stakeholders for their support during his four-year tenure.
Mr. Erogbogbo highlighted the achievements of his administration, including the revitalization of the Ikorodu Oga Day celebrations, youth engagement, support for local enterprises, and advocacy for progress and unity in the division. He expressed pride in the legacy built and hope that the new leadership would expand on the foundation laid.
The outgoing chairman urged the incoming executive members to serve with integrity, lead with courage, and remember the people they represent. He thanked everyone who supported his administration, including those who advised and constructively criticized them.
Mr. Erogbogbo concluded by reiterating his commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of Ikorodu, even as he steps down as Chairman. He wished the new leadership well and expressed optimism about the future of IKODASS and Ikorodu Division.
